Can you unplug the harness of the TVSS alarm, under the seat, and still drive your vehicle? Is there anything that gets "disrupted" from doing this?

My goal is to make a plug and play harness for an aftermarket alarm. That is, use the existing female end of the TVSS harness that goes from the seat to the dash. Any information is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in Advance!

hmmm, i wonder if this hasn't been discussed before

your TVSS was likely installed using a T-harness. mine was. remove it, connecting the chassis plugs back together, and use the removed harness to create a harness compatible with an aftermarket unit.

Lot's of info on the RS3000. TVSS, not so much.

I would rather not have to connect the chassis plug back together. I guess, that is what I am asking. Can I just unplug the unit without removing its harness.

My idea is to disassemble the TVSS unit itself to use the male end that the existing harness plugs into. This type of approach has been documented for the RS3000 unit.

If you remove/unplug the alarm unit the vehicle will not start due to the alarm's starter cutoff.
There is a thread from two or three years ago where someone did use the existing harness for a new alarm.
There is at least one thread detailing the removal of alarm harness which will be another good reference.

If you want to bypass the starter cutoff for temporary operation without the alarm connected you will need to disconnect two plugs at the base of the steering column from the alarm harness and join the remaining tow plugs together.

Note that either the TVSS or the RS3000 wiring harness is either the same or similar.

the TVSS and RS3000 are very similar in how they T into the chassis, reading door sensors, etc and introducing a starter kill relay

try disconnecting it and see what happens

but i suspect it might kill your starter. so plug it back in, or remove the whole harness and re-connect the chassis plugs
