My 4runner sold on Monday and I ended up finding this GX470 at a small dealership right down the road the same day. I have been wanting to do a build with the GX470 body style for a long time. Being able to stand out and show what a Tuxedo 120 can do is going to be a really fun experience. This will be my 6th build where I plan to take a lot of what I've learned from the past and put it to good use as I invest into making this the best Daily Driver Weekend Warrior possible.

Welcome to the addiction. :)

Remember, when you do an obstacle, you need to ask the people at the top where the outlet mall your GPS was taking you to is located.

I'll remember that ha. I believe I saw your rig briefly at GSMTR 13 but couldn't find you to ask about it. Anyways, great build and thanks for the tip.

I'm pretty set on running Radflo extended coilovers and shocks this time. Not set on tires size yet tough. Seth your rig is coming along very well. I love the approach angle of the front bumper. What gear ratio are you guys running?

We have stock gears for now, I think we want to go with 4:56 and ARB lockers, still not 100% sure yet.

Did I read correctly that you cannot do a air locker on these because of the differential casing being too tight? I want one that can still be disengaged for street purpose.

No not at all, I just ordered 4:88 Nitro gears and ARB air lockers for the front and back, that should help a ton

Seth

This is good news then! I was skeptical because I thought I read something in a Trailex article that they couldn't do air. If you don't mind me asking do you have a link for where you got the arb equipment through?

First, your build is looking great. I saw the SSS guys installing your bumper at Expo... If they would have installed mine that weekend they would have had another customer... Anyway...

My rear swing out tire carrier covers up the stock reverse lights as yours does. It looks like you have LED's at on the angle on the SSS rear bumper. Two questions:

1. Do the lights on the angled pieces of the rear bumper provide enough light directly behind the truck?
2. Did you relo your backup camera (I rewired mine into a trailer hitch cover and made it removable in case I do need to tow something)? If so, where to?

Regardless - looking great!

cool thanks, No the lights on the sides do not help for right behind Lexy, I had Kevin weld a tab for another KC light on the tire carrier swing, its been on order, as soon as I get it I will install it as wires are already ran, so I will have a total of 3 reverse lights.

I am installing the camera right beside the cube KC light, I will post a build here as soon as I can get out of the garage long enough, Fed Ex and UPS keep me busy

Seth

Thanks Seth I'll give them a call tomorrow and see what they can do for me. I only plan to lock the rear for now as I plan this build.

Jun 1, 2014 While I'm piecing the last loose ends of my lift together I decided to update the lights and audio.

I took the time to treat the leather to prevent it from deteriorating but still need to find a better product than what I used. I went a head and did a sea form treatment and did the carbon filter delete. Now it's just patience as all my parts trickle in over the next upcoming days!!!

I just received my GTA Kit, how was the install? Are you happy with the functionality?

Cheers - Nate
I am very happy with the kit. The install was extremely easy, I simply found the install video which is very detailed on youtube and did the install while watching. Both the 3.5 mm and Apple jack work terifically and have woken up the sound system. You'll be very happy with the outcome.

Thats great to hear, I found that video and even ordered a cheap set of panel removal tools, so the install today should be pretty straight forward. I am going to get the Apple Lightning to 30 Pin adaptor so we can use my fiance's iPhone 4 as well as my iPhone 5.

ipadholdr.com and sugru.com = awesome ipad mini mount. Have mine integrated into the Alpine head unit through the USB (which also carries enough juice to charge the ipad).
