One other question for those ham radio operators. What is the local repeater out in that area or does everyone use simplex?

Search some of the old Surf N Turf threads and you'll find repeaters for both north and south trips into Pismo Beach.

Edit:

From the 2011 SnT thread posted by Mr. PismoJim himself:

Northerners... HWY 101 South of Salinas to Pismo by two linked repeaters.
North end, W6FM, Williams Hill (San Ardo), 146.730 +127.3
South end, W6FM, Mt. Lowe (Cuesta Ridge), 147.360 +127.3
On beach, NORCAL, 146.460 simplex
Southerners,
Beach to ???, WA6COT, Santa Ynez Peak, 145.180, +131.8
CB - day of week

Day of the week as in Wed being channel 4 Thursday channel 5 etc?
Also, the 146.460 simplex listed is the Norcal FJ'S simplex standard. Is that what the consensus are using on the beach? Trying to clarify is all.

146.460 has become the adopted simplex frequency of most cruiser clubs. It started with the Norcal guys, but has grown in use exponentially across the landcruiser community.

Anybody knows what is the condition on the water crossing? I will be driving my 4runner this time since the 60 needs a lot of work done this winter.

I doubt the river broke through- we only averaged an inch of rain, so I'm guessing most of that soaked right in the parched ground. PismoJim was down there yesterday I think? Let's see what he says. . .
