anyone with it .. it really hold .. ?

I'm curious too as to how well it's held up.

Still likin it Steve? I still have yet to get a hold of Madison Cable and get the control cable done up. Once I do that I can go ahead and order the kit from TSM and that'll be the next big brake issue taken care of on my 62.

Stopped by TSM yesterday & Skip was welding up 3 brackets for 6Xs: they've updated the design & cut out the centers of a couple panels (weight reduction?) & they look great. Asked who they were for but he didn't tell me. So whose are they?

Spooky - It's holding up great, but it doesn't get driven much.

Any updates from people running the TSM parking brake? I was down there a couple weeks ago and the parts look nice.

How are they holding up? Still able to hold the rig on a steep hill?

GLTHFJ60 gave me the link to this thread. I am considering on ordering the TSM transfer case parking brake and was wondering if you guys had any updates. It looks like they offer two different kits now.

Not seen reviews or updated feedback. In principle the transfer based e-brake/parking brake sounds like a good option where there may be no other option for a mechanical parking brake. My concern would be (1) holding power once the brake was set and integration into the FJ60 (2) second part would be clearance issues regarding the rotor.

Just posted in my build thread, would it be practical to do a TSM brake and a line lock?

Possibly, but it won't meet any legal requirement and hydraulic p-brakes should not be trusted to hold the vehicle for very long. There is a reason why dump trucks have a steel strut to hold the bed up if someone has to lift it to get at something. It's the same reason skip-loaders have a similar strut. Hydraulics leak down with time.

I like the look of the TSM system and it looks like a good solution to an otherwise difficult problem.

Another option that is easier than you might think is to swap in a complete 80 series FF axle which gives you disc brakes and a decent E-brake. You just need to use the 80 series cable, which is a direct fit.

I realize this is an old thread, but disc brakes on a 60/62 is a decent topic, and like most, I have never heard of a working e-brake with eldo calipers.

I have several years now with the TSM slit case disc e brake and it works .. again, not an e-brake system .. but a parking brake system.

I worked in a cadillac shop back years ago...late 80's....seville and eldoorado rear disk brakes were notorious for (1) the parking brake not working and (2) rear brakes not staying in adjustment....teh main culprit was (a) most people never used their parking brake and (b) the *&^% calipers / parking brake "guts" were crap and no solution to fix.

Yea I've considered the rear 80 rear axle assembly swap myself...just not gotten to that point in time yet and not totally thrown in the towel on the fj60 OEM stuff just yet. I will have to admit I'm not a fan of the FJ60 rear brakes from the perspective of staying in adjustment....I do recognize that good drum brakes are fine off road but given that I'm a fan of 4wheel disk, but along with that I want a mechanical parking brake to go with it. can I have the pretty corvette too :)

The best write-up I've ever seen on how to make the Cad RDB calipers work: Rear Disc Brakes – Cadillac/GM calipers | ClassicBroncos.com Tech Articles Written by a Mechanical Engineer who took the time to reverse engineer the system well enough to understand how it was supposed to work, explains why it doesn't, and what to do to fix them.

That said, after all of that he too gave up on them and now runs the Explorer RDB system, which nearly a bolt-on for a Ford 9" and works similar to the FZJ80 RDB system. Both are drum type p-brake designs. I understand that Varga has supposedly made hydro-mechanical calipers work, but no one else has.
