Sunday was another good day. After moving the axle side panhard mount I had just a little more clearancing on the frame to do. That made me move the mount one last time to get it right where I wanted. Seems to be good now!

Paul came by to have a look. Once we starred at it a while we decided enough was enough..... We pulled the axle out again so that final welding can take place. Made a plan for some frame reinforcements and braces too. This frame has had a hard life with quite a few patches and welds already...

Next we tackled some front body mounts that I suspected has collapsed some. The doors haven't fit right for ever and after a month on the hoist they nearly wouldn't close. We remove the front bolts and lifted those mounts to slide in a space..... NIGHT AND DAY DIFFERENCE..... the doors line up better... shut better and gaps look better. So happy and im kicking myself for not doing this ages ago....

Looked at my air filter housing too and where to mount it.... the towers for he coil overs made everything even more snug than before....

Also opened the front diff to confirm what was in there. it had some type of very very very tight limited slip. Could be extra tight right now as there is no oil in it but it felt like a spool and looks brand new. Gear paint was still on the ring gear.... so that's a nice find!

Today I ordered my front brake calipers and hoses, and ordered a king pin kit for the right side. It was missing the top cap and bushing spring assembly. Once that is in the front will be very nearly ready to rip.

Hope to drop drivelines off at some point this week to get re tubed the right length. don't need much change and I think the front could be reused but they were home made anyway so going new won't hurt....

Wow, T that's an epic garage session over the past few weeks! Impressive. Troopy will be that much more capable and stout!

More welding and parts procurement yesterday. Ordered all my front brake parts to get installed but then found them at half the price online.... so those will go back for exchange so I can save the 250 bucks.

Ran out of mig wire and got a new spool... got the axles welded out.... then ran out of gas.

Hope to get my D shafts into a shop to be retubed and sized tomorrow if all goes well.

Stock toyota shafts and single u joints on each end. My drive shafts are !40" long and operate at low angles <15* and even less than 10 most of the time. I bought whiize conversion flanges to run toyota stuff on both the dana 60 and 14 bolt pinion.

ok.. Im headed the same direction roughly, because of the radius arm front, Im going to try a DC end off a 4runner spliced into the rest of the 80 shaft up front.

A guy here has a few rear DC shafts for $70 a pop or something, but aiming the pinion at the t-case for that. I'm told toyota stuff is strong, it feels like if anything they may be the fuse in the system but time will tell.

Welding in the front end. As best I can!

Plated the inside of the frame and got the notched sections cleaned up. Should be laughing now.

Looks good! Can’t wait to see this thing role.

Axle is back under with all but the last tower welded out. Need to wait until I get my steering shaft double confirmed and then I’ll be set.

all the frame notches and cleaned up patches look pretty good. Should be as strong as ever.

So if I had a free afternoon we could bang this out at my place as well!😂😜

got new calipers and pads installed on front axle but am struggling to get the right banjo bolt for them. Ordered all my other brake plumbing. it will be converted to the familiar metric fittings everywhere I can as thats what i have around most of the time. Hoping to get brakes going soon.....

Drive shafts are at excel driveline and could be done this week. Springs are supposed to be here tomorrow..... forward marching....

oh i think I'll fond some locally. Just the first set I ordered didn't work... looks like I need 10 x 1.5mm

A long time coming. It’s in its own weight and springs tonight. Pretty cool to finally get here.
bought the link parts in 2015
Started the 14bolt shave in 2016
Committed to tackling it on dec 13 2019.

Ya rock monster wheels and 37s

Back in the saddle tonight. Tackled the brake line plumber for all but the axle to frame lines. Should have those soon but I ordered hella long extended ones. Bought a whizzy new line flare tool that has changed my life. Must have tool for brake line work.

you’ll also notice my new drive shaft and pinion flange installed up front.it can move under its own power again. Just can’t stop.... yet

in other news I’m ditching the gov lock factory locker. They aren’t well liked for real off roading so I’ll put a Detroit in instead. I’ve really liked them in the past. Front will have this limited slip that’s in it now. See how that works.
