Nice pics Jon.

I saw a very built 100 series heading east on US95 east of Hite in Utah. Wondering if they were coming to meet up with you all..

:hmm:

OK, Here is the remainder of Day 5. After lunch we continued down Last Dollar Road into the outskirts of Telluride. After a quick stop in Telluride for some breakfast (for the next morning) and coffee we proceeded up the road to Ophir pass. Ophir is one of the easier passes in the San Juans, suitable to Subarus and the like. Nonetheless, the scenery is breathtaking.

Who did I pass heading towards Cimarron over Owl Creek Pass on Sunday? We were on our way towards Ridgway.
Sorry we couldn't make it sooner. Next year for sure...... We've already set a bunch of time aside for Telluride again next year.

Pulling a trailer? That was Ranch Hand. Taking the long way home.

^^Yup, pulling a small trailer. Looks like you guys had a blast. Did we hit the peak of the fall colors or what!!? It was pretty hard to beat the weather we got too. It rained one day here in Denver and we were driving around in 68 degree (down low) sunshine everyday.

Looks like this run is about to take off. You started something very cool in the absolute best area of the country. Next year I'll have to do 2 back to back trips. We've already booked our annual leaf peeping in Telluride for 2013!

^ We would love to have you over next year. Thanks everyone for taking a look and for your comments. I'm sure that more photos will trickle in as people go through what they have and look forward to seeing the other perspectives. This thread will move to it's final resting place in Trails-Events-Expeditions soon so check over there for updates.

See You on the Trail.

Jon, it looks like you have a different set of tires. What are they? Awesome pics, BTW.

Just run of the mill BFG ATs. Same tire I've run for the last 2 years 285/65R18s. Even though I've had some sidewall issues i still keep going back to them. Great all around tire. Good in the mud, great it the snow and excellent on sand and slickrock. I'm still planning on changing over to 315/75R16s next spring. I'll run the ATs in the winter and the MTs in the summer.

The trip was a great place to compare the performance of different tires. Overall, size made little difference in capability (as opposed to Moab where every inch counts) but type made a huge difference. On a night run Bluecruiser (with Trail Grapplers) drove right through a muddy dead end trail while I got stuck. The next day I drove up a snow covered incline that took him 3+ attempts. It's all about what you want to do with your truck and where you drive.

Dude, I stopped in the snow, lost all momentum.....bfg are bunk....go nitto ! The night run was the true test......bfgs were packed with mud, no way out....also the bfg tread design is about 40 years old......

Were you just comparing AT's to MT's?
