I emailed the red mountain cabin/ campground to get pricing etc. I'll keep y'all posted. Cabins had private baths.

YA Teasin' me now!

All those i say yes too!

Is that a real mustache on woody?!?!?

Rubicon is still high on my list because I am afraid it will be closed to the public soon.
So that is my first choice.

Black Hills have a bunch of trails or just buggy only trails? How far is this from Jacktown?

Black Hills is about the same as Moab. Maybe a bit closer.

Lots of trails there, the local club puts on a great ride there in July. Check their website for trail descriptions. The Black Hills trails are also constantly on the verge of being closed by the Forest Service like the Rubicon.

It is a really, really cool place to visit like Moab. It has some stuff that really is amazing for a family/wheeling trip with all the National Parks, the biker towns, the mountains and the water.

We love it and it is on the shortlist to go back even though we have been 2x.

South Dakota is BEAUTIFUL and Sturgis is a MUST if you go. I think trails in Sd would be a winner for more family oriented stuff.....

surely it's closer than MOAB?

One of the first trails I watched video of that made me fall in love with offroading... I would love to complete the circle... I'm down for a trip in 2012 wherever that may be...

not sure what you guys decide for summer 2012 but i might just have to tag along if that's cool.........

as for 2013, it will be the 25th running of rubithon. i talked to tony twiddy about it a little on saturday at the rubicon springs. he has big plans for the event. we can be our own official group, i have two other solid wheeling buddies that will run trail comitee for us. y'all will get along great with them. one of them should be coming to K2 with me next spring.

if this is going to happen, then we eally should start planning now. this will be an epic trip!

jebber is flying hom today, promised to do a write-up about the trip and wants to run the trail with us in 2013.

2 yaers minus 5 days and counting...........

I can tell you from my personal experience that the Rubicon Springs portion of the Rubithon is far and away the best part of this trip. Running the Rubicon is cool, no doubt and some of the scenery and trees are just amazing, however, nothing beats the party Twiddy and Crew throw at the Springs. It is just unreal how they pull that off.

X2. Taking a bath in the springs and jumping off the dam at Buck lake is very refreshing. Can you say shrinkage?
