roger is part of the elwood chapter. his last name escapes me, but he's got a red 40 with a gm diesel in it. his son has a built 40 as well. he's got a red mini freightliner?! tow-rig and a trailer that's a friggen mile long. he usually camps next to the office at the crawl. besides, his biscuits-n-gravy are something i won't forget.

Roger Theurer (sp. ?) aka DSLTOY...

He's over in the Hillbilly clubhouse - STLCA, vs. the redneck clubhouse.

I guess I need to start printing more shirts! Singing the songs dang sure ain't gonna pay for it!

You just gonna find the right audience Bodean. Us cheap bastards won't get you much more than a free lunch or a cold beer.

5) anybody who wants to can drive my buggy thru any of the obastacles they don't want to take their own rig thru.

this is no BS. ask jebber. :grinpimp:

Truth.

Now I want to take the Blue Mule out there, I think she's ready.

I really want to do this but not sure if it will happen. My baby girl starts college in the Fall, that's gonna affect my time and money this summer.

Anyone up for hitting the hammers on way back....?

Maybe some CA folks will join us.....

Food for thought:idea:

i figured if y'all come all the way out here, we should hit at least one other trail. fordyce came to mind. it's a little tougher than rubicon and follows a river upstream. there's one river crossing that requires at least 35s depending on the flow. we've gone up there with the buggy on 42s and just made it across. that trail might be a bit much for most rigs. but the scenery is fantastic and the wheeling is great. all of the really tough obstacles have bypasses but even those can be difficult. better have a winch!
the other trail is duzy-ershim. probably the most scenic trail in CA, if not the nation. it's like driving thru yosemite without any signs of civilization. spectacular views to say the least. not nearly as difficult but a long trail ( 28 miles iirc ) and it's up there; starts at 8k feet and tops out at 10,500. so it gets cold at night, no matter what time of the year you're up there. temps in the middle of the night are around freezing even in summer. so bring good sleeping bags.
the hammers are a different animal. during the day it's better to hang at camp and you go wheeling in the morning and evening. the trails are the toughest CA has to offer. not really full-bodied rig friendly. amazing wheeling, but possibly too much for this group.

What's the general itinerary for Rubithon? What day do you think y'all'll go in? Do you make it in one day or break it up? How many days in camp, etc., etc....

...trying to figure out when I'll need to leave and what days to tell my wife to schedule for vacation (they have to request it by Dec. 1st )

Several money trees will have to spring up in the yard for me to make this trip. This family ski trip is exhausting my play money! Anybody need t-shirts???

I need to cash in my prepaid Rubithon Metaltech/IPOR raffle prize, so I'll be flying out and driving one of the Metaltech rigs. I'd love to get in on some other side trips, but I'm gonna leave the rigs in TN and ride shotgun if I can find a seat. I don't see the purpose of hogging a spot on the hauler to have my rig sit while I bash Mark's junk on the Con. At some point I'm gonna stage the 80 out west for a few years and spend some time exploring a week or two at a time, but I'm not there yet.

Roger's recovering from some minor surgery at the moment, but the West Coast was on our agenda as well, and given the relative paucity (we ain't got a lot of members, Bodean) of our active membership, there might be spots on the 4 car trailer. Of course, since Bossman's got a new toy, maybe all you need to do is source a trailer!

Can you imagine the looks of those two rigs convoying down the road?
