The elektrik installations is getting along, all cables and devices are reduced to the max meanwhile, everything is tidy, condensed and easy to reach.
I think it´s worth the lost space in the glovebox...

there was a time we had to use them quite often....

I got used to carry 4 "Sandbleche" one for each wheel.

Not been forced to use them for many journeys now (with better and bigger tires, more driving skill and more engine power), I reduced the weight to just one pair.
When travelling to Libya crossing the high ergs I might carry an additional f/g pair, they are lighter.
 
80 series chassis with 45 body...sweet!!
what is the price tag, i can't seem to spot it?

Wow! I just spent a couple hours going through this thread - and I was just skimming. Amazing, how did I miss this? Soenke, excellent rig. It seems to be very well thought out. Obviously, this is not your first attempt at a rig with these capabilities. How long have you had the vision for a rig like this? From what's available now and what you've learned from your use of this vehicle, do you forsee moving to another platform? I know finances are always one of the biggest limiting factors, but let's say money was no object and you were starting over with the same requirements, such as 2 people, same travel destinations, & etc....
 
I wouldn´t change much.

One option would have been to lengthen the frame for ~25cm to build the cabine with more space in front of the rear axle. We would have used 255/100 tires to keep the rig less wide....

The look would have been more like stock and and we would have had space for our foldable boat in front of the spare tire. The cabin end could be straight up, wich would look better but entering the cabine with roof down would be more hassle.

So I think if we would have built it that way, I would write down the advantages of the options we have chosen right now....:D

Hi Soenke,
Just a off topic question.... You clearly know your stuff and are based in Europe, do you know where I can buy / have made new canvas sides for my pop-up troopie, the fabric is now 20 years old and well you see it.... I would try to do it myself but would like windows...

Damm that was quick !! its a Auzzie built trakkar conversion with a hindged front and 3 canvas sides...
