All, I am as stated starting my transplant. Picked up a 92 silverado 2wd for $350 and had it running in 4 hours. So I am currently gathering parts, parts and some more parts for this epic undertaking. So far I have the trans adapter from AA and the VSS mechanical through adapter for the speedo. I have computer wiring diagrams for the computer and awaiting the electrical for the pickup to see how things are wired there in order to keep some stuff. Like cruise control and the steering column and making that all work with the turn signals and the column shift linkage. As I already have a 350 in the pig it will be slightly less painful, I think. I will keep this post up with pics and what I have done to modify wiring instructions. Some of you may have already added TBI to yours and perhaps have words of wisdom for me, I would appreciate them. I will say this: I am doing this mod and not MPFI. I know some will say "why not do this or that" and that's fine just know that for now this is my mod.

Yes, 70 series. Turned out really great. Got them from SOR. Had to modify the mounting points slightly, shape the bottoms with a heat gun(I have a spare set of fenders to model) and make a cutout in the engine side of the aprons. I really like how they look.

I will get close ups and post them later.

Edit. Images added.

not much of an update but so far the trans is getting rebuilt and will be done this week with the AA kit installed to use the Toyota transfer case. Decided to forego the harness mod and opted for a new one from AFI. It will be nice to have new wires, connectors and a calibrated chip minus the egr, knock and a couple other items. Pulled the cruise control system out and hope to use it with buying a control switch from Rosta. Still trying to decide about a fuel pump. The in tank one is what I would like as it is quiet compared to an external inline one unless someone knows of a "quiet" inline pump. The motor was crap after pulling apart so I'm going to take the intake and use it on my current 350 which is a 93 and fresh rebuild and save that other one for a rainy day rebuild. Couldn't use the stock column from the pickup as it is waaaay to long for the cruiser so I bought a floor shifter. Went with a B&M quick silver one. Still need a few more items (like everyone else I'm sure) like a trans cooler but I need to measure that space out first and some plumbing items. Hoping to get the rest of the fuse block from the pick up and mod it into the cruiser too. Gotta get moving as my weekends are limited before elk season.

The pump I chose is an Airtex E8094 external. If any of you get one, here is the pic of polarity and outlet from the company. The pump is completely unmarked for flow/inlet/outlet and Pos/Neg. The directions don't even address what is where. This pic was emailed to me from them.

How do you like it? Quiet enough or did you have to further isolate it?

Well that's good/bad. Did you use the existing fuel return next to the fuel feed line or run a separate one? PO had installed a charcoal canister to mine and then conveniently installed a cutoff bolt into the return line so it wasn't doing anything. Can't figure out what he was trying to accomplish with that. I will delete the canister altogether and make room for something else. It's been over 100 the past two weeks and working in the garage is not fun but hope to get started tomorrow. I have nearly everything at the house to complete the install. I need to run by a muffler shop and have them weld in the 02 bung first. Any words of advice before I disable my ride?

I did use my factory return line. Did I mention it was occluded with some debris? This was the cause of so many of my 3FE woes...

You do want a vapor recovery charcoal cannister in your design.

Ok, how did you do yours? where did you connect the line for the vent, I know where the line goes on the TBI.

Looking at SOR I can see the fuel flow and return lines on the passenger side of the frame to the tank and to the pump. Looks like the vent line comes off of the seperator and goes forward from the driver side cargo area along the driver side and this is what is supposed to go to the cansister. My stock one was gone so I didn't realize where it was supposed to go. I'll have a look tonight and see if the drivers side line is there and possibly plugged off. Which would explain my funny little "electric high pitched squeel" from the seperator area when I park and shut off the pig. Guessing it is not purging the expanded gas vapors properly.

I have a spot on the TBI base for the purge from cansister. Where is the feed to the cansiter? is it pulled from the line on the driver side that dead ends into the body mount area under the floor pan?

Update on project. TBI is done and working. Pics to follow. Had quite a time with the harness from AFI. Couldn't get it to fire except when cranking. Short story is there was a pin wrong at the computer. Troubleshot it down to that and when installed in the correct location, good to go. The pump I used is kinda loud but not intolerable. Almost have the cruise control installed just need to hook up the brake switch wires. So far so good. After having done this mod, I would do it again. The new harness was money ahead in my mind so that leaves getting the TBI and intake manifold and brackets with coil and distributor from a donor vehicle and the computer. Also need the other connector on the coil that has the coil wire and tach lead from the donor vehicle. I installed the adjustable regulator and gauge from CFM so I know what the pressure is for sure. We'll see if my mileage improves or not. I am not doing the 700R4 until after hunting season as I don't want to be without it in case something doesn't go right. So, that's my story for now. Like I said, pics to follow for anyone who wants them. I can say now that it really was an easy install. Of course, prior to this I wasn't so sure. Having done this once, I could do it again in a day( a long day).
