I currently have the pan off the bottom of my transmission while I fit a new throttle cable. I pulled the strainer to give it a rinse. The FSM says to replace the 2 cork gaskets but I can't for the life of me find a part number for them. Are the gaskets part of the strainer and only available with strainer assembly?

The gasket I am referring to are the 2 smallish cork gaskets that seal the strainer to the valve body. I have the correct FIPG for sealing the pan to the housing.

Same for me. The cork was attached to the filter. I also used the cork gasket for the oil pan, so we shall see if that was a mistake or not.

I spoke with the guys at my local toyota and they confirmed a new strainer comes with the gaskets. One ordered - hopefully here tomorrow. 🤞

Yea, the cork is attached,

When reinstalling the pan I struggled with the FIPG bumping into the solenoid wire and other things and leaking.

After two failed attempts (cleaning the FIPG off and losing a gallon of ATF each time) I was successful. The one special trick was to use a few cheap bolts from the hardware store with the heads cut off as alignment pins.

This sounds like a great idea. I used something similar to align the gaskets doing a knuckle job but never thought of it for mounting the pan. I have a handfull of the very bolts that will work for this.

oh crap, i've never even dropped the ATF pan in the 23 years of ownership. :bang:

The only reason I did mine was to replace the solenoids, at 342k. Prior to that I flushed/replaced the fluid from the transmission cooler.
I do flush/refill with every oil change so I'm not worried about any gunk in the pan, but still I should drop the pan one of these years just for S&G. Maybe when and if I ever do the line pressure increase project for a less slippage, LOL!!
