Just got through changing the rear housing on my transfer case. Filled the transfer case up with oil. First drive had a little oil coming from what I thought was the breather. Had some more on the second drive and a third drive. Pulled the filler plug and no oil runs out but now I’m worried that I don’t have enough oil. Any good way to check? I also have no idea how much oil I’m losing when I’m driving.

Generally you fill the case until the oil flows out the fill plug. Bad seal between tranny and transfer can allow oil to pump up from transfer to tranny. A bypass hose connecting both fill ports would allow the oil to flow back down. @shipmag sells them

I wish I could just see up there and figure out what’s leaking. I was leaking around the e brake. Fixed that and now I’m leaking somewhere else.

That’s really a good idea. That way you would always know how much you have. Kinda like a sight gauge

It's a stainless braided hose, you can't see through it.

Because the exhaust pipe is in the facility plastic tubes melt. My hoses have a PTFE inner tube which is resident to heat. The braided stainless steel around the PTFE gives it a higher temp reading. Out
Of 600 hoses no one has complained about the heat ruining the hose. Rubber hoses can't take the heat. A clear hose would most likely melt from the exhaust heat over time.

I had all the issues mentioned, fitted equaliser, still had oil dripping off park brake which has a new seal and all new internals. Brake still worked tho which doesn't happen if covered in oil. Oil was coming out of the output to the front diff and blowing backwards, I assumed that as 4wd was very rarely going to be used and the seal didn't seem to leak in the 20 years of banging round the farm prior to the resto it would be ok. Wrong - most running is now at highway speeds and I keep a closer eye on the transfer oil level which made the leak more apparent, new seal should sort it. Naturally its different to every other LC pinion seal I have.
Breather is right on top of the t-case and should have a little baffle in the bottom.
