I was waiting for parts from Japan for front axle, so I didn't drive the rig for 2 weeks. It was totally OK when I parked it on my property,

So today when I pulled out in reverse from the yard it was ok. Drived fwd and needed a little more reverse it didn't work drove Fwd to the main road just to find that D is not working as if it is in N

The dash trans lights show the correct position of the trans shift stick.

Someone may be encountered this malfunction?

I think Lights are based off the switch at the base of the shifter, not the transmission.

Did you check for death glitter?
Dear Sir i just spent an hour reading the troubleshooting section of the FSM looking for the scenario I have got a huge headace and understod its over my lige

what is death glitter?

Did you try to adjust the linked arm? It may be worthwhile just to rule out this possibility.

The FSM is made intentionally thick to be used to konk ones cranium and remove a headache..

Death Glitter is the shiny stuff in oil/ATF/Gear oil or some type of lubricant that indicates a part has been through the grinder..

Should have been "Have you checked for death glitter?"

@Outsane Oil looks clear and red no sediments or solieds. pratialy changed once a year, 100 miles ago like evry year since 2017 when I got the rig.

Use certefide German Valvoline DEX III all the time (never full chnage)

Took the rig to toyota dealership the old tecnical manager like to work personaly on this 80. He solved my cruis control problem a few weeks ago that nobudy could.

Mine did something similar when I replaced the engine wiring harness and forgot to plug in the wire to the transmission ECU (under the dash, passenger side). In gear the vehicle would sort of move forward and back but took a lot more throttle than expected.

If you didn't mess with the wiring at all perhaps something shorted under there, or maybe a rodent got inside and chewed up a wire.

Yes @ZackR we touched there 2 weeks ago to fix the crueis control problem I had

Today, after 25 miles test drive everything worked perfectly, including lockup kickdown overdrive reverse

Dont know what to do?
It's not a mechanical problem then. My guess is that there is a loose wire, intermittent short, or the ECU plug isn't fully seated.

Glad to hear it's back on the road, just double check the trans computer wiring and confirm the plug is seated.

So I took the rig to the Toyota dealership the old foreman likes my car and works on it personally, and gives me a 50 % discount on work time.

First, we tried to read the AT codes with the old Toyota scanner it didn't pull codes

Then we had to put a new OD bulb in the instrument panel (it was no good for many years)

Read the code as per FSM

It was Code 62

Changed all transmission solenoids although just one was bad.

Drive like new

Two things Y

You need a functional OD light to read the AT cods you use a jumper in the OBD connector and count the blinks

And I used Isuzu solenoids 60$ for the all 4

2x Isuzu 8-97202072-0 Transmission Solenoid

1x Isuzu 8-97202073-0 Transmission Solenoid

1x Isuzu 8-97202074-0 Transmission Solenoid
