I just looked them over again. One other gear has a little chip. Do you think that’s enough to mess it up? Should I replace that one, too?

Its money or nothing and the gears aren't free. In a proper world gears are replace in mating pairs. On one hand "new " parts might not be any good or they cost to much and make it about the same as getting a used unit like a NV 4500 system with much better gear choices.

My 72 is old, I'm old so I would likely run that one tooth damage gear. It will likely last longer than me

I like the way you think…my thought was to run it…isn’t it the low speed gear which would only be used in low range? Is that correct or am I confused?

They are hardened. Gears dont do much bending before transitioning to broken. That that tooth has deflected that much and is actually still there is amazing....but it won't be for long.

Crap…that’s the little voice that was behind my desire to run it..I'll swap it out, too...definitely don't want to go back in there anytime soon...
