I'm STILL voting for FJ over all others, justweldit's 3 text messages in 1 minute stating "Crown King" to the contrary...:lol:

Of course to make it more interesting I decided tonight to flip my rear springs. Works great and gives my 40 3 extra inches of wheelbase and centers the tires in the wheelwells.

But my driveshaft fell apart and it needs to be lengthened. By 3 inches.

Oh and the rubber brake line? It's like a piano wire.

And I need to trim the exhaust pipe.

None of these are all that big of a deal. Just need to source the parts (in 2 days!) and get them installed. Nothing like a deadline add a little motivation!

Mark - I have a longer rear driveshaft to loan if you wanna use the one off my 40 for this run...or the driveshaft comes free with sale:hillbilly:

So do we need to take a vote on this or what? If everyone thinks Florence Junction is good, we can do that, who's familiar with the trails there, and can pinpoint a meeting spot and time? If we dont make a decision soon, no ones going to go. I'd do it, but I have never been there. Post up folks!!

OK... the McDonalds / Shell Gas station on Hwy 60 at 9AM Saturday. Last place for gas and gas ;) and then head to the main parking staging area at FJ. We can run Woodpecker, Ajax, Martinez Canyon, there's a lot of stuff out there.

Got to leave for work. I'll get GPS info a little later.

Sounds good, except I dont know what exit off the 60 that the McDonald/Shell station is. I can be there at 9.

The McDonalds:

Lat 33°21'28.02"N
Lon 111°28'2.65"W

US 60 and Mountainbrook Dr in Apache Junction

The turn off to the FJ play area is south of the junction proper on Hwy 79 south of the old y railroad tracks on the right. Its one of those handy fenced off areas for parking trailers and such...

Anyone else going? Bueller?

The McDonalds at Gold Canyon and the 60, right? North side of the road if I remember right....

What time? Im in!

Hopefully several mudders will come - FJ is a great place if you havent been there~

Come on folks - Lets go!

Yes that sounds right. It's the mini-McDonalds with a gas station attached.

ETA on the staging area? I will post up tonight if I'm going to meet you so no one's waiting around guessing.

9am meet time

He's asking when you'll get to the staging area (dirt road) 'cause he's coming from Tucson.

I would suppose no later than 9:30am. Thanks Spike.

I'll meet everyone at the staging area - I assume it's easy to find? I've never been there, but I think I know where it is.

Thanks for breaking my FJ cherry yesterday, gents! Great day - "narrow" canyons, de-flaring the pretty cruiser, getting lost, Shannon wussing out over a little rock, getting lost again, rescuing a bronco. I was astounded at the scenery in that area - why did they build the town so far from it? I know you guys got some great pics, post 'em up!
