I ordered one from Mark today from Detours USA. They make one for the 80 series that bolts to the 4 holes in the bumper already. No loss of hitch! $285 bucks.

this looks like exactly what I need, waiting on your review !!!!

Under $300, and looks good? I'm also very interested in your review.

Any update on this tire carrier? Definitely interested but would like some photos and feedback about the product. This may be my summer gift to myself......

I decided to go with the AJIK group buy on their bolt on swing out carrier, still waiting on that to finalize at the moment, it is about twice as much or a little more, but will hold a 35 inch tire[which I need, so im gonna splurge]

Still waiting on delivery.

Will the detours USA not hold a 35 inch tire? That's what I am running so if it's not up to the task I better look elsewhere too.....

AJIK site states item is sold out - does mud members have an in on this somewhere?

not sure if it does or not, I only briefly looked it over when it was posted up, seems like a good deal , but I wanted the swing away carrier on the spindle if possible so when they offered to make us another run of the AJIK carrier I was sold, well I will be when they get the price quote finished and posted up. :)

edit, just looked again and I didn't see the tire size capacity, but theres a pic showing a tire at least 35" size so???

Did the rack come with any paperwork that says the largest tire (or weight limit) it supports? I can't find that on the website. What was the price of the mount for the pintel bolt pattern? I only saw the 2" receiver mount.

I tried the Bondarue tire carrier. Departure angle was s***e. So I welded it off center on the passenger side of the cross member. I removed the draw tight since and am pretty happy with the $300 spent.

I can't imagine a carrier with a big tire just on the 4 bolts for the pintle hook would do too well on rough trails. Talk about cantilevered! Picture the torque and dynamic forces involved...! And that's not very thick metal on the cross member. Not too fond of the idea of a carrier in just the 2" receiver either for that matter, but I think it could be better depending on the receiver design.

OTOH, with both the 4 bolts -or even 2- and a stub in the 2" receiver, that seems like it could work fine.

It was $334 shipped. Communication has been outstanding. I don't think a 285 will be too much tire at all. If they tow heavy s*** with the Pinole mount I don't think a tire will be too bad. There is a backing plate for the backside of the x-member as well

Looks great - did it come with the license plate relocation or did you do that yourself?

That one isn't mine.

Just a picture of what they look like

Gotcha - like it - ordered mine today. As for larger tires, I told Mark I'm running 35s and he is going to fab it with larger tubing so assuming the hinge and locking pin are beefy it should be fine for the extra weight - now I need to double my Amex balance on a full size spare

I had that Bonarue years ago when I had an 89 4Runner lifted and ran 33" tires. Used it in the standard receiver hitch and it stuck out a bit to far but served its purpose for years. Eventually sold it. It was a well made product
