Hello and thank you for your input.

I have been driving a truck for roughly 15 years. 12 years with my gen 1 Tundra, and the last 3 with ford raptor. I love my raptor, its fast, drives great on the road, and looks amazing. But, its been a maintenance headache.

My wife has a 2019 LC200 with 49K miles on it, its in perfect condition, black on black. Wifey wants a new car because the LC200 isn't big enough inside for hauling groups of kids around. I'm contemplating trading in my Raptor for her new car, and taking her 200. I love the 200, its the best. But, I'm struggling with not having a truck anymore. I don't work in construction, the main thing i haul in the truck is bikes.

Anybody make a change like this and have any insights? Advice apprecaited...

Thanks,
ZG

I had a Ram 2500 Cummins as a daily driver for 10 years, now I have an LX 570. I haven't missed a truck as a daily driver for a second. I do have a beater truck for the few times a year I need to get a load or firewood or take something to the dump, but I could do the same with a trailer behind the LX. I'm old enough to appreciate a civilized smooth ride and dry storage inside the vehicle.

Had a gen 2, svc mid travel, back halfed, king 3.0s and bypasses, wavetrac, 45 gallon tank.

Raptor (even stock) is a great fun truck. Nothing could touch it in the desert, I was at the point where I was gonna have to cage it if I kept it. Regularly hit 80-90 in the whoops. Fit and finish is typical ford, not great. Also wasn’t looking forward to cam phasers etc.

200 is a different beast completely. Quiet, almost boring, never have to worry about cause everything works. Maintenance is simple, so are fixes. With suspension they can be fun in the desert but that’s not really its strength. Oem plus is kind of the sweet spot for these trucks. I want something I can take to Beverly Hills or ocotillo and blend in at either place.

I do miss the huge fuel tank!!

Do the bikes you haul have engines? If not, get a good rack and call it a day. If so, it’ll tow that type of trailer easily.

The cruiser will be a lot less exciting, but will just ooze “quality” compared to the ford.

+1 to all good points above. I came from a 3.5 ecoboost and can say comparatively the mechanical fit and finish far surpasses anything I've seen on fOrD. I can't speak to the f250, but that'd be a consideration if I went back to a pickup.

I do miss intermittently being able to throw whatever in the bed and take off and how fast it was. I do not miss all the fOrD things my truck did (timing chain and associated issues, fuel dilution of the oil, front engine cover oil leak at 40k, seized brake caliper, having to remove rear diff cover to service diff fluid, trash interior material quality, oil filter location, etc).

If you have a hitch mounted bike carrier, it seems like you're set. If you have a trailer, you'll likely not miss your truck except for the minor PIA of having to hitch up and return your trailer to its home. HTH

great input, thank you guys. the way i look at it, i can easily find another Raptor that might need $10K in repairs in a single year (cam phaser, rear diff leak, cracked cylinder head), but its a lot harder to find a black beauty LC200 with 49K miles.

I went from a 2019 Raptor to 2019 LC200. The Raptor was fine but never really meshed with it and not really an Eco-Boost fan. We will retire in 5 years. The Land Cruiser is our forever vehicle. Couldn’t say that about the Raptor. We will get another truck in a few years but will always keep the LC. A 10’ trailer works just fine for now if needed.

You literally have a 200. Can't you just drive it for a couple of days and make a decision?
That’s what I was thinking. OP has it made. I only got to test drive a LC twice (for probably 20 minutes a piece) before deciding whether or not to take the leap of faith. OP, on the other hand, has unlimited access to a LC in order to help him make his decision. Pretty convenient!

ha, totally. yes i love the LC, just need some input from people who have moved away from a truck. This definitely helps me get over the finish line...

I have a 2500 GMC diesel. Great for hauling my boat, and anything else I need to carry. It used to be my daily. I bought a CPO 2019 LX three years ago and never looked back. It’s the best truck/car I have ever owned. I put 70K on it so far, and it’s bank-vault tight at 100K. One of the best car decisions I ever made…

I had a 3.5 ecoboost and it was fun. It also had all the ecoboost issues, that was not fun.

We have 2 200 series, drank the kool-aid bigly. Love them both.

We have a utility trailer for when I need to do truck stuff and a Velocirax for our bikes, it practically lives on my minivan but will pull roadtrip duties on our LX.

Raptors are easy to come by, clean 200 series are becoming harder and harder to find.
