How do i completely turn off computer controlled traction control in 4 Low?

I was told holding down the traction control button worked but that does nothing on my 2018.

I’ve found myself in places I need a full throttle, full V8 power raw dog smash quite a few times and the traction control always tempers my desires.

Not sure how to turn it off but usually leave it in mud/sand mode when I want a more manual driving experience. I agree that traction control can sometimes kill momentum when you want momentum. Other times though it’s magic.

In my 2015, you have to be stopped for it to work. Hold down the traction control button until it says TRAC OFF and the icon will stay illuminated. Traction control will stay off until you turn off the truck.

I tried that.

I’ll try it again but I can’t get it to change anything.

Mudholes. Walls that need a good Moab bump. The sand the last trip I was on. I want to let it rip.

My 2009 works as @terdrocket described. Initial press will illuminate the trac-off dashboard light, and holding for 3 more seconds will get an audible ding. And yes, have to be at a stop with foot on the brake.

Sounds like the later ones may not fully turn off and will come on in a more egregious traction slip?

Center locker on will also turn off traction control. On Moab bumps, should have it engaged ideally anyways.

I always forget to do my center lock. That may be my issue. Even though I’ve wheeled this thing more than most I’m still kinda dumb on all of the buttons.

I'm guilty of forgetting too. When the mountain goat just seems to do its business so often without drama, makes it harder to remember.

And when it doesn’t I’m flustered and suprised so I don’t go through my checklists.

My 2020 LX doesn't have a traction control button .
Bums me out, because I like to party.

At some point I want to sit down and create a quick guide for all the options. It would also include short notes. For instance:

"2nd Start" - start in second gear, reduces the torque so to prevent wheel spin on slippery surfaces like snow, ice, or sand.

Hahaha I'm so dumb. When I got it, I looked on the dash where the LC has it and never looked anywhere else. With the 21" wheels and tires still on it, it's never been off-road so I haven't needed any of the off-road goodies on this one yet.
