Weather is looking ok - Coastal highs in the low 60's and overnight low in the low 40's. Clear, crisp and cold.

Going to be fun - I get in golf and camping for a great cause all in one weekend!!!

If anyone is interested in joining me I will have my surf gear and am planning on surfing O-Side Sunday morning.

Can't wait. Are spots first come first serve? Or do we need to RSVP?

Golf? Are you talking about putt-putt or actually playing on base? The course on base is fun and cheap.

I'm taking my daughter shopping today, I think she is more excited for this weekend than I.

Played the Pendleton course before, but not there this time.

Since check in is not until 1:00 Saturday, I can get in my regular 7:47 am tee time Saturday at my club and still get to the campground in reasonable time. On Sunday, my sister-in-law's company is having an outing at Encinitas Ranch starting at 11:00 Sunday, so I'm throwing the clubs in and will drive on down there and play Sunday before driving home!

Besides, Dave will get a kick out of me having my golf clubs in the cruiser for a campout! :D Had always been tempted to take my sand wedge to SnT, but never did!!!

36 holes in 48 hrs - livin' the dream!
Last time I played ER - it was in buttery condition. Have fun.

Yes, the weather is looking good. But remember, its the coast and it's going to be chilly. Dress appropriately. Also, bring fire wood if you want to attend the main group fire put. We're putting 3 rings together to make one large one. There's no place to buy wood on base.

Field camping is first come first serve at $8 PER PERSON. Day Use if FREE. RV full hookups are $30 Per Site and are very limited.

All the food is purchased... hopefully there's enough!

Played there a couple of months ago. One of my BIL's favorite courses. Got an offer for a hot shower and a hot cup of coffee at the in-law's house before the Sunday round instead of the campground facilities too! Gotta love that!!! :bounce:

I was trying to get a window of time so I could get down there Dave but we just have way too much going on. I will get in touch with Brent and send a toy down with him. Tip one back for me.

Had a great time catching up with everyone and seeing all the cool vehicles.

Thank you Dave for putting this together and to the Marines for letting us enjoy their beautiful camp ground.

Awesome time and what a haul for the kids.

Fantastic turnout from the off road community for this. Dan and I were crazy to get up so early Sunday morning. He for his surfing addiction and me for my golf! Hey - at least we won the tournament! 3 under par scramble format and won a free round of golf at Encinitas Ranch! What a great weekend all around.

Overland Gourmet outdid themselves on the hot dogs! Bacon, Dragon sauce along with sauted peppers and onions to dress up the lonely dog! Yummy! Sportsmobile group put on a great cocktail hour spread of Hors Devours too!

Thanks to Dave and Yoshi for their tireless effort on this, Tacodoc for arranging to host the event on Camp Pendleton, USMC and Navy personnel that were there to help and all the vendors that donated things for the raffle! Wow!!!

First, I want to thank Dave for his efforts putting this together! The kids definitely won on this event. It was great seeing a good turnout from SoCal80s: Mark, Dan, Ryan, Brent, Russell,
Mike, and others. Had a great time hanging out, although a bit short.

.

Dave,

You did an absolutely outstanding job in organizing the Toys for Tots event. Can't wait for next year.

Great location thanks to TacoDoc. We took the scenic route out of the base on Sunday and came out near San Clemente. Beautiful! Love the road signs that say "Tank Crossing" ! Sure wish we could take some of those dirt road through the base. What a great off road trip that would be.

Jerry - that way out is a SLOW trip up Basoline road. I understand from folks I know that have driven it that the speed limit on much of the road is no more than 10-15mph and they mean it.

We found the speed limit to average around 35 to 45 mph by the signs. Going through a few housing areas the speed dropped to 25 and in one area down to 15 mph. The slow bits took only a few minutes at best. Of course this was the middle of a Sunday afternoon, not a lot of traffic to start. During the week it might be quite different.

We did see a couple of traffic police on the road near the housing areas and we kept our speed at or below the posted signs.

Our favorite sign of the day:
