More from the," if they can't find you handsome" file...

Gutters keep getting hammered by snow. I have stops to put up, but first bending all those stupid clips back in. 😒

Been there done that. My 40 rack has an expanded steel floor so I don't even need plywood. I usually climb up the truck and skip the ladder. Being 6'4"+ helps a lot to reach things as well. The 40 is about 6'5" plus my own reach gets me up to 14'6". If that's not enough, the ambo is 8'6ish"... making 16'+ in reach.

On a side note... I believe I have that same ladder. I've seen a couple versions... 19' and 21' max extension. I bought the 21' version from Costco many moons ago. One of the release knobs froze up and it no longer locks on that side. I contacted the manufacturer and the sent me a new replacement. I took the broken one to my sons place so that it can be recycled... given it is broken and all. ;)

Didn't see the winch at first, but also had a quick thru the window yell at the guy. From Belgium.

Hanging around Ladysmith today. This is cool. Trying to figure out if I wait to see if he’d want to work a trade or something.

Young family in the 30's. I think by exhaust the truck is gasser. Auto trans for sure. My impression is they bring it, drive it,
take it home and sell it. Whatever they lose is worth it to be using top quality.
I think our biggest fault is desire to own and somehow expect it to appreciate in value just because.
The hard part is making the decision to leave it all behind and just do it.

Well, I guess there's also the part about living in an apartment, and having a decent job.

Realistically the rental costs in Europe are nothing compared with Canada... Also the property prices...

Sure the taxes are high, but your kids get free education including university, you can expect to retire with a somewhat reasonable pension... And don't perhaps need to put as much money away Etc

So buying a car with camper and making some memories is maybe a reasonable use of disposables income...

So if I drove over there, can I camp easily and tour just like here?

Bear in mind, you're asking that question of someone who considers sleeping under his truck reasonable...

Although his circumstances have recently changed. So it's not him making those decisions now 🤣🤣🤣
Well, got to find out one way or another. I wonder if they use road salt there like we do here in winter?

Yes and no... Never a simple answer...

Driving around on roads and camping in parking lots / quiet side places is totally allowed and can be done freely, there's also lots of paid campgrounds that are basically a field with amenities.

Theres also a thing called allemansrätten, which basically translates to freedom to roam. Essentially trespassing isn't a thing. You have a legal right to cross any property, forrage berries and mushrooms and such. This legal right only extends to traveling on foot though, not driving over the properties in question. There are some requirements like not walking through fields with crops and destroying crops, and that camping you need to be at least a couple hundred meters from the nearest house. Interestingly nature reserves are not included in this, and those you need to camp in designated areas.

With that said if you're willing to tent and walk a little from the truck you open up a world of options.

Theres also a million side roads you can wander down in the countryside and park in a cutoff to a field or edge of a beach and camp for free in the truck. The further you go from the larger cities the easier it is to avoid no car camping signs.

Yeah but it's high quality put that s*** on your boutique yam fries kinda salt .
Yes they use brine on the roads in the south, I think if you go far enough north it's more just gravel since the salt / brine isn't so effective...

Winter tires are mandatory here, and studs are allowed so most people have them...

Thanks, so that’s how I basically travel. It’s easy to respect proper working fields and property
at least for me. Here I’ve never had anyone push me off land or somewhere I’ve parked.
It’s not too hard to tell difference from wayside parking for a night to somewhere you can set up
and relax for a couple days. It would be so cool to drive that whole north part of Norway, Sweden
and Finland. Huge distances. Be a real challenge to get it done before winter. I think
just too cold and dangerous to travel like I do.

So what’s the percentage of EV’s on the road there now? Are they taking over?

Better off to wait for spring.... Weather is getting more miserable by the day....

If you want to do it you can mail the truck to my house, and pick it up at your convenience, stock up and head north...

As you said amazing areas to visit.

If you come in summer there's a 4*4 rally across Sweden that sounds amazing

They basically tour off road parks across the country and camp in each location... Could be fun to incorporate into a trip.

Of course Norway, in particular the fjords shouldn't be missed, lots of great camping spots for a few nights up that way...
