Nope. Zero to 140 takes 7 sec - just cause test drive. Had to make sure everything was good.
First is it handles like a car, farm truck without the truck anymore. Seriously if I thought it handled well before I
was uninformed. Even Teri who doesn't exactly like speed was ok with the first portion of the test on the highway.
Then we went up onto logging roads, bad ones. Looking for some balsam boughs for wreaths. With a rear shackle
now almost 10" long and 8 lbs in air bag it just bounces through the holes and ruts like a car. None of that hard
rear end pounding from a shackle 4" long on overloads. It sucked up potholes quite nicely.
Overall, worth the money and time. It is smoother to drive and feels better.

Found an old picture of Andy not long after I bought him, not sure exactly how old, but definitely before the tub swap and spring over.

Think I took the picture in Courtenay

I bet you didn’t think you’d still have him 14 years later… how time flies.

Package arrived today straight from Japan. Wrapped up very well with brown fibre reinforced tape over every seam and around the middle. Not surprisingly it arrived safe and sound.

Getting closer. I got the bottom end back from the machine shop after three months. I had them install new wrist pins and bushings with new piston. I put new cylinder liners in and polished the crank. I had the matching shop true up the crank journals and install new bearings and bore and hone the liners. I got them to install the crank and pistons rings. For 2k

I got it home and started checking the work found the centre cam bushing not lined up to the oil port, so I took it back and had them look at it. They said it would e fine. I did not think so so I made a plug with a shoulder and pulled it out and lined it up better to the hole

When I was doing the timing I noticed the at after hand cranking it around a bouncy there were scratches on the new bore 1 and 4.
I took the piston out and found a crack oil ring

Well new rings and the new head is on this weekend it’s a bit hard working when it’s -18 even with the heater full blast

I hope to have the 40 on the road soon and ready for my summer trip to the island

Let me get this right, you paid for piston install and that cracked ring was on there?
Looks good all around otherwise. It's not -18 here but its not nice enough for a road trip either so ya
got time!

Anyone know the rig? Esquimalt area.

Nice SOA 60 boarding at Tsawwassen. Not sure if still a gasser or not. Never got a chance to talk to driver. Nice bumpers, really well done. Anyone know it?

Kinda looks like the diesel on I saw in Ucluelet with a 13BT a bunch of years back.

I saw this and rather than thinking how cool… thought what a waste… perfectly good tub, hardtop and doors. It’s not like it would be an awesome trailer. For what those parts are worth here, you could buy a far more useful trailer.
