Well don’t toss the replaced vacuum unused front half, I will convert it for someone else.

I believed the late 4 speed tcase came with the fifth gear oiler provision. So all you’re stealing is the selector shaft, detent cap spring ball and possibly the seal/boot?

You might as well use the shaft from your current case it’s essentially all the same just doesn’t have the detent notch. You are capable enough to make the notch and your vacuum tcase front won’t have the detent to lock in 4wheel you will have to drill and tap for so you really don’t even need that old case.

You are essentially just converting your current case to manual like I previously mentioned. Only difference being you are using a correct manual selector shaft.

Well yeah, I'm just getting rid of the vacuum crap, it ain't rocket surgery.
But I'll just do whatever is easiest when I have the 2 cases out on the bench. 😂

probably just steal the bits because that case is pretty much scrap otherwise.:meh:

There's definitely no oiler provision in the 4 speed case I have tho, or yeah that'd be easiest.

I've got 3 split cases in pieces.
I'm pretty sure I have everything I'll need. It'll have wait till my next batch of days off anyway. I've already put it off for years:lol:

Right now because we're chronically understaffed I'm sucking up the ot for banked time.

It's s***ty outside and everything is covered with hideous xmas plastic garbage anyway.
May as well "work" 😄

Lj78 has vacuum actuated split case also. One of my vsvs failed at one point while out in the bush. 30sec of trouble shooting and then swapping vacuum lines and got out fine. No big deal and not worth switching to manual for me anyhow.

I'm coming up on ten years with this damn truck. So apparently it's not a high priority for me either

But, one less thing to fail while I'm at the mall.

I’ll have to switch to manual since the vacuum won’t fit in the rails of the 40 apparently.
My usual thing is I’ll get all the parts and then put them in a shelf and then in 3-8 yrs finally
do it.

Oops if I missed something here.
I will sell you some of my manny solenoids when yours fail $$
Ah, now I see. I missed this.... I now officially have a spare should either of mine fail. I'm not really wanting to
do anything to the 74. I have another 13BT and case etc for my 40. That's what I was getting at.
It will have to be converted to manual to fit.

Merry Christmas, Steve!
