because I HATE the metal rattling .
all boxes are lined inside and outside with microfibre fabric .
this allows to store goods inside with out aluminium dark staining , avoid metal bangs , and have a more gentil out fit to the boxes .

I was going to ask about resonance, but you seem to have answered the question, with microfibre lining. Is there still much resonance across the drawer/cupboard system?

Also, I see you have the gas canister mounted inside the van. Is that permanently, or just while cooking? I know laws vary for each country but in the UK, and certainly here in the UAE, the canisters mounted inside need to be in a sealed compartment. Do you mount it on the backdoor while travelling?

Thanks

David

Hi David
Noise , rattling and resonance, are well under control
Despite fabric lining , in some boxes I have lined them with cork panels .
Very efficient for thermal isolation, but also noise
It is natural , nice touch , and easy to cut and glue.
The gas canister is always in that position.
I can close it , but generally I don't .
Never had a problem in all these years .
Might install a gas detector ?

The interior is on progress and not finished yet !
Hope in 1-2 weeks .
To be honest , I am rather tired working on this project for too long.

despite hard work almost every day , progress is quite slow ....:bang:
I have now completely finished the metal work :clap:
the drawers you see , are on heavy duty rails , made for metal drawers , so should not go loose even on corrugated roads .
hope so !!!
full extension so no more hassle in packing and taking things .
and last but not least , fabric lined in order to avoid aluminium stains on clothing
wife can't complain on this ;)
Now going in the wood ,panel job .

progress is coming along nice .
today I was able to cut out varies panels , and place them .
what you see is just a mokeup .
I stll have to drill holes and fix them .
the plan is then to cover them with a decorative laminate , wife choice .
will keep you posted .

bye Renago

Progress of today :
Drilled all holes ,which will allow the panel to be fixed on the aluminum boxes .
Plus cone setting for screws .
If you notice there is a rough wood panel for each laminate panel.
With same holes .
This will allow to glue the final decorative laminate ,and have a nice finish without the seeing all the screw heads .
Hope to glue and put everything thing in the 20 ton press today .
Should stay there curing for 24 h .
Tomorrow is the day

..but if you glue the cabinets to the body , you can't unload them or change anything.
..
The gluing was for the roof+cabin to the truck

Hi guys , I just noticed that my construction thread has been updated since a long time .
too long time .
mean while I had to sell a house and move my garage after 50 years ....
huge work .
here are some photos so you see that I was not playing around .

1904626
1904627

all images above are related to the cutting , adjusting , glueing , fixing the panels to the aluminium structure .
long , labor intensive process .
consider double the time you would estimate ....

I think i said previously that I hate noise .
so each box and drawer is lined .
some with fabric , so the aluminium will not stain the goods inside .
some boxes with cork panels , that are very good in sound and thermo barrier .
