Towing with AHC

Update: I installed the factory hitch with the OEM hardware. One of the 4 bolts stripped its threads, not very encouraging. The crazy big star-bit for the bolts was $40. I took it to a trailer place and they drilled out the stripped hole and used heavy-duty hardware with bolts and nuts on the back inside of the bumper. I couldn't do this myself because the access holes don't line up. They had to use magnets to get the nut inside the frame. The dude was cussing Toyota for their design but did a great job. I highly recommend Lampert Hitch if you're in Denver. Took for a 3 day camping trip and the trailer pulled really well on the hitch. The hitch guys were split on if I should use a weight-distributer. Some thought it would tweak the frame. This is apparently very common on the new 4Runner factory hitch, which just bolts up to the underside of the frame with 4 bolts and cannot use WD. Similar design to the 100 hitch except it attaches underneath instead of on the backside. The other half of the shop thought a WD hitch would be fine since the rear cross-member is so beefy.

The other bad part of this design is you can barely get a hitch-pin inserted. It's so tight I couldn't get it to accept a locking hitch-pin, there's not enough clearance so had to use one with the cheap clip.
