OK just got back from two weeks in France. Got in and out of Paris before the Olympics, thank goodness. The French are not happy about the olympics being there. Finished the trip up in Nice where the end of the tour was. Again, was shocked that most locals did not want that in their town either!

Shocked to see how active and in-shape they are. Tons of bike riders, walkers, runners, ect... and.... almost all of them smoke! LOL

Man I loved Nice when I visited earlier this year!

Big day for him! I'm impressed so far with Jorgensen too. Pretty good work for an Idaho kid!

He's pretty cool. I dig him a lot.

He did a cool video with a good buddy of mine Scott Piercefield... Really shows you the huge differences between a WorldTour Pro and us mere mortals (and Scott is a **very** good bike rider).

Oh yeah, I watched that a month or so ago. Very cool! We have a local test piece riding up the 16 mile road to the ski hill. Jorgensen was home a while back and absolutely obliterated the Strava record just out by himself on a fun ride.

That was entertaining.

Re the diff b/w world tour guys and mortals: strong 2s took a trip to Europe and tried to climb one of big the tour climbs faster than the slowest rider in the previous year's tour. Big naw dog. Not even close, really.

Yup. They are operating at a different level completely.

It's all of that good clean living! 😜
lol yea kind of.... I was blown away at all the bike riders riding to cafe's and having French fries, espresso and a cigarette just before jumping back on their bikes for another 45 kilometers!

As an aside, I see this is the first year ever, where no rider or team is using sew ups. That’s pretty amazing as tubulars offered so many benefits over clinchers. Racers are on tubeless with goop, just like us mountain bikers have been doing for the last 15 years.

The old days were: train on cotton and race on silk. Times have changed!

It’s the drugs…

They work.

Ever get a hold of an old edition of Winning or L'Equipe (en francais) from the 80s and 90s? You'll have quotes from riders praising their new teams' benefits, like training in the Canaries ... and a superior medical programme. MmmHmm

Edit: I'm a cynical dickhead and firmly believe everyone dopes. However, I don't think a person with a very good 40k TT time of 55 minutes is going to go well under 45 mins with a pharma boost. Those guys are already animals before the juice hits the glass

They’re all super human athletes, so it becomes just the fastest cheater wins.

Haha, I’m definitely a bike racing cynic. Not cynical about sports in general, though.
