These doping Doctors are just one step ahead of the detectable law. Rich racers (think Lance) or perhaps teams pay more buckos seeking out illegal performance enhancers. That in itself is an arms race.

It boggles the mind (mine anyway) the performance Pogacar (?) and the other dude are putting out day after day. Superhuman stuff.

I always root for these guys, then sadly find out they’re dopers.

Hope it’s not true, but these guys are waaay too fit to be otherwise, imo.

Training techniques are so, so good these days that I could believe a pro could have a day or two in a grand tour with performance levels like we are seeing. But day in and day out in two consecutive grand tours? I can't.

The audaciousness of Pogaçar's attacks makes me think either he (1) doesn't think he's doping or (2) doesn't think he's catchable. I hope it's the former: he seems genuinely too nice to be the latter 🤷

Haha. My high level was Cat 2. Nowhere near what TDF riders put out.

Back when I raced, there was no dope testing for amateurs. Doubtful for pros, either. My racing lasted from 1978-82.

Lance, Floyd , and countless others just deny, deny, deny.

I stopped watching the TDF because of it. Now, maybe a clip or two on Instagram.

These sprints through the Alps just remind me of Floyd when he was cranking the mountains. IMO, they’re on something…

I'm always a little surprised when I hear these types of comments. In many ways you to have to be a dick, have to be selfish and crazy competitive to win at many sports. Yes Lance juiced and took the fall for many, but so did most of the peloton at the time. The are several good podcast from Vaughtners (and others) that explain the culture at that time surrounding doping. Look at other sports, F1 for example, Senna was an a****** on the track so was Schumacher and so is Max. The F1 teams always seem to be cheating. Tennis is the same, soccer too. Even Shaun White was an ass and shunned by many of his competitors. The list goes on and on and on... But hey, let's just bag on Lance because he should be perfect and shouldn't be so competitive and should have never juiced and no one else has ever done anything like what Lance did. I've seen cheating at regional auto racing events, but hey it's not pro so it doesn't really count. Remember the Briatore-Piquet crashgate scandal, yeah that was a totally different type of cheating??? Why do so many get upset or surprised (I'm never going to watch TDF again) when cheating occurs? Isn't that what we should expect.

Hey, I only bagged on Lance, because I can't remember the names of all the other dopers. But that's why I don't watch. I don't need to follow and get excited about the fastest cheater.

Sucks, but that's the way it is now.
 
I’ve been watching the NBC/Peacock condensed highlights on YouTube. Much more palatable in 20-30 minute increments. Been rooting for Remco but will concede that it’s just not his time yet. His story is wild, crashing off the side of a bridge and getting back to where he is now.

Anyhow it’s clear Tadej is still a cut above everyone else. At the end of the day, in any sort of competitive environment teams and individuals are looking for whatever edge they can find while skirting the rules.

In summary Remco needs whatever Tadej is on! 🤪
