Anyone ever hear of a TomCar?

TomCar - Anywhere and Back™

Israeli built, street legal, "go anywhere" vehicle.

My boss is considering getting a couple of these. I've never heard of them before now.

I saw these when I was in Moab in '06. They have a lot of them there. My brother wanted to get one, but now with the Yamaha and Polaris things running around at a lot lower price, doesn't seem to be so useful.

It is "street legal" but I wouldn't drive one on the street where I live, so that's not a selling point so much. All 2Wheel Drive too if I'm not mistaken?

Interesting, whats the diff between that and the Rhino's that seem so damn popular these days?

Looks like a glorified side by side to me. If I were in the market for one I would personally choose one with better support.

It looks like a dune buggy rhino.. And I believe anywhere, those rhino's are AMAZING.. Go up anything and go anywhere except the streets....

He wants to expand his off-road tours with these, so being street legal is important; getting to and from the trails. They also have a four seat model, which he wants.

From what I've seen, they don't need to be 4x for most situations. It looks like they are about 20k which is a bit steep, however, how much is a tricked out, long travel suspended Rhino (which still wouldn't be street legal)?

I think they look a bit goofy, almost like a mini Model 'T' with aggressive tires, but still, kinda cool. I can imagine they are extremely fun to drive.

amazing that these vehicles would be street legal. I take it there is no crash test for that to be the case, eh....

They are street legal, and top speed is around 50 mph, not bad. I think the price is like 16k-21k. It has 15" clear and 13" of suspension travel. And I don't think you would need 4x4 very often in a vehicle that light. If I only had 20k to blow.

I drove a TomCar on Kaua'i in January. I had a beat up basic petrol 2WD model. Belt driven, belts slip when wet or in greasy mud. Honestly, most fun I've had on four wheels. There are also the 4x4 and diesel versions, with various cab configurations. Great vehicles.
