I originally posted this in the Copper State Cruisers forum as I live in AZ. I found the FJ55 IPPS afterward. I would appreciate the thoughts and opinions of this group as I am learning these things are not as easy to fix-up as I had thought...

I was cruising the side-streets in Phoenix one day when POW, I ran across this jem...

I stopped and rang the door, sure that no-one would answer. To my surprise, a woman came to the door and started chatting with me about her FJ55. Said she bought it 10 years ago in TX, and would consider selling it to me if she decides to sell. Said she would get back to me in about a week...

Now the big question is... Am I ready to go hog-wild? The truck looks 100% original. No body rust that I could see at all. It needs to have the interior freshened up, and a coat of paint (someday) but it is a very honest, original piggy.

Price hasn't been discussed. Any thoughts on what she is worth?

When I go back, what should I pay special attention to? Where to look, what area's/items should I be most concerned about?

That 55 is sweet!Jump on the sale.If it runs well and the interior is decent it is worth some coin. 2-4K imho:)Good Luck or send her # to me

Thanks for the responses. So I am assuming 3-5K is the range for a good condition FJ55 like the one I posted pictures of? Please let me know if you think that is high/low. What you pay if it was coming out of your wallet?

I appreciate all the feedback. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Learning that it is difficult to find window gaskets and weather stripping was a surprise to me. I guess I need to do some more looking.

JackA thanks for the info. Do you ever come out to the Copper State Cruisers meets? The next one is on the 19th. I would enjoy talking to you about your pig if you decide to come.

I have been to a CSC meet a few years ago with my 40. I might be able to cruise down to the next one if you are truely interested. Only reason I am going to sell the 55 is to free up space and cash for my 45LV.

JackA - Sorry I should have clarified. I would like talking to you about pigs, but I most likely would not be interested in your truck as I have this other one I am looking at.

Man, that's a good looking Pig and I hope you or someone else (me, me, me!!! Haha) here winds up with it.

At least a 300% improvement over one I bought, maybe 400%.

AC = win.

Not as rusty = win

Looks clean = win

I can tell you if I'd been the one at the door, I'd have had a hard time not throwing money at that one, after what I've learned on mine.

Good score and I hope it works out for you.

(But if not, be sure to send her number to us.)

Edited:

AND IT HAS THE OBLIGATORY WASP NEST!!!!

I'd be happy in that range, lower side if not running to 5-6k if it doesn't need much. Looks like a great starting point for a really nice pig -

Probably a repaint, should be obvious on closer examination.

Is that overspray on the radiator?

Roof looks like it was gray.
