Ha! My wife asked me the other day if I knew where Al was and what he was up to. He sucked us to Moab for one of those pre-Cruise Moab runs and he was a great guy to wheel with.

My first time on the Lion's Back was riding shotgun with Al Roth on his lime green FJ40 at the first 'Cruise Moab. Super nice guy, one of those gentlemen of the Cruiser world, like Marlin.

Many people's various amounts of contribution has resulted in the coolest association around the coolest vehicles and activities, regardless of age, tenure, or social status (within the community or other).

I think a measure of contribution deserves a measure of recognition. Elect those that impact and contribute to our inherent enjoyment, and those names listed are the foundation of the tlca. This is a great idea, then new and unknowing members will be able to relate to the individuals in the Hall and understand the general philosophy of the tlca. Mis dos centavos....

I think Marv Specter deserves at least a nomination too IMO... Granted he is in business and has not (at least recently) been too directly affiiated with the TLCA but is a great community supporter and seems to bend over backwards for cruiserheads of all sorts pretty commonly IMO...

Nomination - Alan Loshbaugh

Earlier in this thread, I set what I feel is the bar or level of expectation to be exceeded.

On that note, and based upon reading Trails and seeing the call for Hall of Fame nominations,...

I want to nominate our current President Alan Loshbaugh. Yes, I would nominate any and all prior Presidents... but I am going to focus on Alan and his achievements for TLCA in his 2 years as President.

in 2003 and 2004, I also was TLCA President but let me tell you somthing, I did not get a thing done! It still pisses me off to this day that one individual on the Board at the time could do such damage to the association and stop so many good things from happening.

While Alan has been President, he accomplished quite a few efforts, but mainly his ability to successfully navigate an update to the TLCA web site effort through the TLCA Board bureaucracy is not only amazing, it is worth Hall of Fame alone. I tried unsuccessfully for 2 years to get the site updated, and it was my primary goal, and yet I fell short for many reasons. None of this stopped Alan and with a supportive Board, the new TLCA site is simply awesome. Not only is the site updated, but Alan created the TLCA infrastructure to keep it updated and fresh. I simply cannot express how 'huge' this is for TLCA. It was/is no small task and worth Hall of Fame in itself.

Another item which was shot down during my term by one less than stellar individual, was the Paypal for membership ability. This was also a goal of mine that fell short. Alan got it done and again, created the infrastructure to keep it up and going.

Under Alan's leadership, the Board corrected our Tax issues again left behind by one less than stellar individual. I take responsibility as this happened during my tenure and I was simply too much of a nice guy to throw the BS flag. Yes, I'm wiser now.

And if his TLCA efforts were not enough, Alan is also very active and supportive in the community. I don't need to tell you that for if you have been around longer than a year, you know this as well.

I here by officially nominate Alan Loshbaugh for the TLCA Hall of Fame. His efforts will go down in TLCA History.

Thanks for reading.

Tony, I wholeheartedly agree with your assessment of Alan. What makes his accomplishments all the more impressive is knowing the other 'forces' at work in his life that he has somehow managed to keep at bay long enough to accomplish all those things you mentioned.

Truly a worthy nomination.

As a lonely representative of the past, I do though feel that the first vote will set the tone for all that follow. IMO, if you do not stop to recognize the accomplishements of the past now, you never will. It will just get harder and harder each year.

Not directed at you personally; the Association as a whole.

First; I didn't start this to get myself into it...but Tony, thanks much for your kind words.

I'd like to see several charter inductees into the initial Hall of Fame, and add one a year.

The suspense is killing me!

;p

Is this now TT uber-secret?

I think Brimmer and Todd K have done worlds of good for this organization. I cannot imagine what would have happened to the TLCA without the leadership of these two gentlemen.

Also, I second the Marv Specter and Henry Cubillan nominations.

Mark W....if course, that is a no-brainer.

A hall of fame without Marlin would be an insult in my opinion. Marlin' support of TLCA has been monumental.

That goof-ball Twiddy should be included not only for his past presidency, but for his FABULOUS history of the TLCA.

My .02.....
