I called them when it first came out, they have no idea of year or if its gas or diesel. And they have since jacked up the price 1k

I would say 1980 would be the year, as my 81 has the newer looking steering wheel, and has the tank under the floor, so 79 or 80, most likely a BJ40 (since he probably found out it was diesel, hence the price increase ), but could be an FJ40 as I have seen a few of those around too.

A diesel has no spark plugs or distributor, just a fuel pump on the left/drivers side of the engine. It will also likely have dual batteries.
