I came across this the other day and found the write up interesting:

http://tlc4x4.com/TruckDetail.asp?TruckID=128&TruckPhotoID=1307

Didn't realize there were so few '79s brought in, guess that makes mine a rare bird (wish I had the factory AC unit it was built with :( ). I was surprised TLC missed some details on such an expensive resto, the chrome gutter trim is absent and the grill is incorrect for a '79. Guess it's an indicator of what kind of money really nice 55s can command, if he gets it I suppose ;-)

Very clean looking.
Is the '79 grille hollow behind the letters? That was '79 only?
Did '79 have cat converters like the 40?
What happened to your AC?
Yes, '79 is rare/unique. I hear they have a different radiator from '78 even.
I wonder why they pulled the plug on the Pig and went to the 60?

i wonder where they got the importation numbers? I've never seen a FJ55 specific count?

Hiya, I got both AC and ps on mine. AC not hooked up as it was all rusted out. Mine didn't have gutter chrome and one of the PO's put Amber turn lights below the head lights. I've been working on rust repair and all but she's pretty much up to snuff.

Best, ty

The '79 had the cutout letters, AC was pulled at some point :(. PO told me it would come with the truck, never panned out -
