TIS Techstream - Customization Options for LC200

You shouldn't need a key if you purchased the eBay cable referenced to start the thread. The screens do match up.

If you have a cable, you can go to the actual Toyota site and purchase a three day key as also referenced in the thread.

When doing the initial setup are you registering the software? The screens on the Welcome to TIS don't match up with the instructions. I enter the key given in the instructions but it doesn't register. Any pointers?

Follow the instructions to the letter...and make sure you are disconnected from a network. I'm not gonna lie -- it took me three days, lots of experimenting, and finally two information exchanges with the cable vendor to get mine to work. And I supposedly have a couple of engineering and comp sci degrees...

Yay, Got the Techstream to work. I missed one of the steps in the instructions.

Now the issue is ID registration failed due to a communication error with the ECU while in initialization mode."

"Terminate initialization by connecting TC and CG of the DLC3 for 30 seconds". Could this be due to the original tires being near the truck when I'm trying to code the new TPM's?

I've not had to use this feature yet, myself, but I do know people have reported issues when any other TPMS is nearby. Maybe move them back 20ft or so?

So based on a lot of time searching the interwebs, I think the problem is the cable itself. As I now understand, the knockoff cables running firmware 1.4 won't allow writing to the ECUs (just changes to customizations like alarms, etc.). Evidently, you need a cable with firmware 2.0 or above (I just ordered one with 2.0.4, but all the ebay sellers were in China, so it will be a couple weeks to verify).

Check your firmware and report back. I'm guessing it is 1.x.x instead of 2.x.x.

Nope. I'll do that tonight and get back to you.

Thanks
MVCI firmware tool confirmed it's a 2.0.4 cable. I still need to try getting some distance form the old rims then reset the codes.

I just ordered a Carista. Supposedly the beta allows tpms programming.

I was able to update via Carista beta, but even though the sensors were input (confirmed in techstream) my tpms lights are still on. Not sure what the issue is.

Does anyone know if TPMS can be disabled completely? I was able to connect and make previously mentioned customization but I really want to completely disable TPMS.

Nope.

Been wanting to order one of these cables for a while to adjust the settings on my 2016, does anyone have a current link to a cable on eBay or Amazon that has worked? The links posted earlier in the thread seem to be outdated now and the 2.0.4 version on eBay that I'm seeing is from Hong Kong and out of stock. Thanks in advance for any help!

Tracking says it's in NYC, so at least it's on this side of the pond. Hopefully it will be here soon, I'm getting nervous that I have only one working fob.

I ordered the ebay version from obdfamily - Same link as as KLF posted, except the Techstream version is 10.30.029 versus 12 at the time. I have the 2.0.4 firmware using the Xhorse - MVCI drivers. I am able to program the standard stuff. Stop the steering wheel/seat from moving back when turning off the truck, windows opening with key fob unlock button.
BUT I still get the "Terminate initialization by connecting TC and CG of the DLC3 for 30 seconds". error when trying to reprogram the TPMS IDs. I even tried to connect the TC and CG pins on the DLC3 using a small wire for 30 seconds. Still no luck. I have not tried moving the old sensors/tires out of range. I can't imaging a dealership doing moving sensors out of range to do this. When I review all the posts, it appears only @arich has been able to reprogram TPMS sensors. I assume it was with the ebay cable and TIS software. Has anyone else been able to reprogram the sensor ID's with the cable/Techsteam?

I originally bought the Autel TS401 so I could read the ID's. It's worked great, but will sell it and get the TS501 version to write ID's if I can't get the Cable/TIS comb to work.
Thanks.

The cable I have has firmware 1.4.1. But from what I've seen it's not the firmware that actually matters. It's the cable supporting the VPW protocol via a chip. Some of the cheaper clones lack this chip. Ones that advertise 2.0.4 are supposed to have this chip. Not sure why the information out there is about the firmware (software) of the cable and not the cable/model/revision. Perhaps FW version is easier to communicate than the myriad of versions and clones of the cable.

The information out there is that 1.4.1 firmware cables don't support VPW and those cables can't make changes. I find that strange because my cable is 1.4.1 and I can make changes just fine.

My theory is Xhorse makes these knock off cables and someone else made knock offs of theirs that lack this VPW chip. So looking for 2.0.4 firmware helps get the genuine knock off- if that makes any sense.

The link I posed above will have the 1.4.1 firmware and the VPW chip. It works to change settings, add keys, etc... Assuming you get the same cable I did. When you order from an over seas listing for knock off parts- you never know if you will get the exact same thing from order to order. But the price is right and worth a try.

As far s TPMS though- I'm seeing hit and miss out there regardless of the firmware version of the cable. Mostly miss.

Here's how to visually see if a cable has the VPW chip or not regardless of firmware version that's advertised. But if you're able to make settings changes then you have that VPW chip. The cable I have btw is the one on the left in the first photo.
