Safety thing so no one steals your car if the door was unlocked.

Except with the aftermarket alarms like Python/Clifford/Viper, the engine shuts off if you put your foot on the brake unless you insert the key. Since you need to put your foot on the brake to take it out of park, you can't steal the car. At least you can't unless you're crazy enough to (a) pop the car out of park with a flathead screwdriver via the emergency release, and then (b) drive around using only the emergency brake to stop the vehicle.

Alright guys, need a little help with this utility. It arrived yesterday and I installed it just fine on my laptop. It connects just fine, prompts me for vehicle info, year, etc. and I am wanting to change a few settings within the configuration. I followed the instructions (I think) and all the driver installs, firmware updates, etc. gave me a 'success' message at each step.

The configuration changes I'd like to make are to have the windows roll down via the key fob from outside the vehicle; additionally, I want to disable the rear hatch lock 'long' beep and driver's seatbelt alarm.

Under those respective menus, I make the change, save the file, and disconnect the OBDII port. The configuration changes, however, did not work.

I reconnected the OBDII cable, re-opened TechStream, and went to repeat the above process. But, in those menus, the changes I made previously were still set as I wanted them to be set.

Am I missing a step? Is there some sort of 'publish' button that I am forgetting to press in order for these changes to take effect? I performed the process with the engine off/accessory switch off as well as the engine off/accessory switch on. Is there an up-down-up-down-b-a-b-a-start command I am missing?

(I did read the 'readme.txt' and the user manual provided with the software even!)

Thanks in advance!

All, I must have encountered an EBCAK error on this one as everything is working as expected. Not sure what happened on day one, but as I continued to tweak the settings, things just started working... Thanks for the great thread, write up, and information - this is a great utility that everyone should have!

Is there any app for an iPad for this? Any particular OS needed? My only non Mac is an old laptop that is about 12 years old.

i am using an 8 year old laptop which I am using to program only. I don't remember OS requirement, but did upgrade out of vista on it. Battery is dead so need drag extension cords inside the car every time.

I believe the preferred platform is Windows XP (that’s what I’m using) I have heard of some people using a windows based tablet with good luck also.

So how does one check whether 32 or 64 bit OS for my 2011 Land Cruiser?

It's not the Land Cruiser that's 32 or 64 bit, it's the computer on which the software is run.

Or am I missing something obvious

BONUS. I just programmed it so I can roll down the windows from the key fob.

I also did this on mine along with the sun roof tilt but couldn't roll them back up with the remote, does your remote function both up & down?

I was able to roll down, and I switched the sunroof to tilt as well. But I didn't know you could close too?

Yes that's what I was asking above, don't think it's possible from what I can tell...

What was under unit conversion? Are you able to convert from Fahrenheit display to Celsius for us Canucks? Although my last couple cruisers have been in F and i've adjusted.

Yes I know. My question is where on Setup menu does it show what OS my LC has?

Just ordered mine for 2014 LC

Hoping I can program TPMS sensors in my Rock Warrior wheels

You can, but you will need to know the serial numbers for all sensors. If the previous owner didn't give those to you, you'll have to find somewhere that can scan them (not with your software, but with a handheld scan tool) and give you the serial numbers which you will need to enter into your software. Alternatively, you could break the bead on the tires and read the serial numbers off the sensors.
