I know I'm opening up a big can of worms here, but here goes.
Any recommendations on a quiet, semi agressive tire.
I have had the 33x10.5 on my 60 for years, hardly any wear.
When I get the 40's the tractor tires have got go, without top you can't hear anything but tires. Any thoughts?

Not exactly an offroad tire, Travis, but I used to run Michelin LTX's on my 80 when it was new and un-molested. Tested out good in the Canadian snow as well as the South Florida mud. At that time, the 80 was a highway queen.:princess:

my BFG AT's have over 25,000 miles on them and still plenty of tread left. I don't know how they keep going.....of course I rotate them every two thousand miles. I haven't noticed any noise outta these tires.

Not bad off road, but not super dooper.

Mud is a no go!!!!

BFG AT or ear plugs.

Goodyear MTR's are relatively quiet. I rode in a TJ with 33's on it and I was amazed at the total lack of tire noise. However, at the time I was running Denman Ground Hawgs on my 40, so maybe I just have a really bad perspective. I even though Swamper LTB's were quiet when I switched to them from the Hawgs.

HAHAHAHAHAHA your kidding right? or else i have to agree on a warped perspective of road noise:D MTR's are quite for the first thousand miles and then they roar. Mine have 15k and i wear earplugs w/ the windows down. ask around, concretejungle could hear em a 1/4 mile behind me coming back from uwharrie last time.

I really dig the yokohama geolander at-II. i thing the bfg at's would last longer but the yoko's are quiet and doing well on the taco.

I certainly can't argue with you since you are the one actually running the MTR's but I just can't imagine how something with a relatively tight tread patern could make that much noise. Are yours louder than swampers?

I don't mean to take this thread in a different direction, but how does one fit 40's under a 60? Are you going SOA with 4 inch lift springs or something?

MTR's are loud....my vote is keeping the tractor tires (what tires are they?)

Hmmm, I'm documented deaf but my 37" MTR's are smooth as silk, and super quiet. Hell, my 39" Red Label Krawlers aren't that bad. Putting on a set of used 40" MTR's (thanks to Alan for the rims) to use as street tires next month - I'll report back.

Buy Alan's 37" Blue Label Krawlers - they'll be a tad loud, but should hold some decent mileage and are a wicked sick trail tire.

Just how much heavier are those dang 80's - that's gotta be the diff. :D

Let me clarify.
I run 33x10.5 BFG All Terrains on my 60.

I just got a 40. I don't plan on putting the hard top anytime soon. The doors seals are real bad and the worn very agressive mud tires on there are so loud you cannot hear someone holler right beside you. This 40 will be a mild trail truck, nothing too crazy because that is what I enjoy. I love Cruisers too much to watch them rollover over or get too much body damage, I am content with the medium trails at Tellico, etc. So that said I want a tire that won't cause me to go deaf but maybe wanted to go a little more aggressive that the AT's.

Thanks y'all, hope everyone had a great weekend. Oh and by the way when did guys start having to go to baby showers?

Quiet! If I turn my air conditioning to low :flipoff2: they are very loud!

wish alans were 16"

My 80 is probably around 6000lbs

Where were you this weekend? I was at the MEETING at Davids!

Had a shower for Mike Hall's wedding (I'm the best man) and a shower for my brother's baby. Both couple's showers. Wish I could have came.
