Not yet. Emailed them earlier this week. Will see if I can find a phone number on their website.
Rhino emailed me back 40 mins after I posted an update here.
“Thank you for contacting Rhino Rack USA. We have reviewed your request, and we regret to inform you that we have not confirmed an engineered fit for a Backbone for your vehicle. Although we do not currently have a Backbone for your vehicle, please feel free to periodically check our website to see if your vehicle has become available. Thank you for your interest in our products and enjoy the rest of your day!”
Well, back to square one.

Rhino Rack part number RTPB2 is the backbone for the GX470/Prado 120. Waiting to hear back from the US supplier to see if we can get it stateside.

Nice work. Keep pressuring RR-USA. I doubt they will pass up on an opportunity to bring in more revenue.

Rhino Rack’s response.... unfortunately.

“Hello,

Unfortunately We do not inventory the RTPB2 in the USA at this time. We have no estimate of when we will be importing this part. Please feel free to check back at a later date.

Looks like buying it on amazon is the only option right now. While it’s “$200” for shipping, it looks like $500 for a backbone system is pretty standard.

Terrapod RTTx News:

Very exciting stuff is underway. The final production model has begun assembly! 🤘

Once completed and finalized, the production version will yield the final parts count and materials required for ordering in quantity. From that point forward - we will open up ordering.

Stay tuned!

All the hard work in design, prototyping, testing has resulted in a roof top tent unlike anything you have seen. And...we cannot wait to share it!

Thank you for your continued support!

Adventure Simple!

Looking forward to the final price!

Fingers crossed it's reasonable

We are working hard to have the unit priced reasonably for an all USA-Made tent. Unfortunately, that could mean it will be slightly more expensive than the imported Chinese-made units that everyone is used to.

However...I will guarantee, none of them will be made like this one is. ;)

Cheaper than GFC 🤞🤞🤞

I can guarantee that. Our cost-effective, yet resilient methods of manufacture have been designed into the unit from the start.

There's always a better way. ;)

Maybe I missed it, what is the weight?

COMING SOON!

RTTx Prototype 001 will be sacrificing itself...for the cause.

We will be testing the structural integrity of prototype RTTx001 by dropping a 7" diameter, 6' long pine tree limb from 10-12 feet onto the tent to find out how tough it really is...on camera.

(That is of course, when it finally stops raining here in the Southeast...)

Stay Tuned!

Hmm. I'm not sure the results or the video will be worth the loss. :meh:

Respectfully, I whole-heartedly disagree. Real-world testing is worth every bit. Learning the fail points and improving on them is invaluable. Knowing the limits of a product will absolutely help to make any product better.
