I siped a pair of "up in the years" BGF ATs with a utility knife before River Shiver. I'd say there was a noticable difference. :)
 
A wet tire cuts much, much easier than a dry tire. Read:
yea... im sure i helps but the hell with that nonsence, heated knife like i have will prolly do all 4 in 1/4 the time of the wet / soapy tire combo, not to mention you can set the depth, AND it makes 2 cuts at a time.
 
Speed costs money. :)
Someone posted how long it took them to carpet knife sipe a tire. Didn't seem all that long to me. It's not like we're getting paid by the tire. Then I would want the fancy groover or the even fancier siping tool.
 
I believe it took me around 10-15 min per tire to do 2 rows of tread blocks
