Any of them have additional siping on them?

Gotta love D30 front axles ;)

yeah.... I'm really kinda torn. I've posted the question on a couple local boards as well and the review is pretty mixed. Seems that most of the standard swampers, bfgs, etc all have pretty good results with siping but no one really has siped Iroks. I really dont want to be the guinea pig. :)

I have never siped an Irok, but I do know what the stock sipes do in the rocks.

If I was going to wheel on any rough surfaces in the summer I would not sipe them..

But, I have never seen a set siped.

Depending on the tire I would sipe them with a knife if you have the time. I've hand siped a set of xterrains so that the sipes go along the tread blocks. It sucked, but I think I ended up with a better final product. (I had access to a siping machine for free). I've also hand siped my tsls, but I think they could still use some grooving. I've also seen regular street tires ripped to shreads on a full size diesel that liked to burn out. So I guess it depends on your other driving.

I would think siping an Irok would make it even more prone to chunking . I'd try em' first they are pretty good out of the box.

I'm with Mace and too tall , they are really soft to begin with and I'm thinkin they would chunk real bad....now if you were JUST going to use them for snow I think it would help as I have never seen a tire that siping didn't help in the snow.....Rod

Bringing this one back from the dead...

I'm picking up a set of MTR's and was thinking about siping them to get better traction in snow. I was thinking 1/8"-1/4" deep with a heated blade, cutting up the middle two blocks. Should I do it before mounting them and driving with them, or should I see how the tires grip the snowy road before I make my decision?

This is the pattern I was thinking...

Hi All:

Seriously, I had a set of BF Goodrich MTs siped back in the late 1990s and found that it did help traction on packed snow and ice.

Regards,

Alan
