Update: Spent an entire day at Windrock about 2 weeks ago. Truck sat since that time. Checked last night. No leaks.
At this stage I consider the problem solved.
Few things to note:
1. I used the oil weight spec'd for my new differential by the aftermarket company. If you're going to do that, you'll need to keep an eye on it during the break-in procedure.
2. I did install a brand new CV axle from toyota. The new axles do not have a cotter pin hole and they use a new style lock nut on the axle shaft. the diagram on Lexus' website does not show the updated nut; Part number for the lock nut for a new axle is: 90177-a0023.
3. I followed the service manual exactly, used the wits end tool, and put the seal in the freezer to shrink it. This made install very easy.
Thanks to everyone for the inputs. Hopefully this helps someone in the future.
