Timing Belt for Dummies writeup

Great thread, now in inspired to do this job on my own.
 
Can anyone help me with a maybe silly question. Putting timing belt covers back on after doing a bunch of work and I noticed the right side cover has a little bit of a gap (looks like the retaining hook thing on inside of cover is snapped off. Is this gap worth being worried about ? RTV around the seam? Buy a new cover? Did I install it wrong. I assume you don’t want dust and s*** getting in the housing. Any help or guidance or reference to your own cruiser is appreciated . Pictures attached showing what I mean, the pick is a small metal pick with a 90 degree in it.
