Well, the fun started today.

My truck is starting to turn into the Valdeez i noticed on the last couple trips. So much so its starting to fly under the rig and under the trailer. Not good. So i took a deep breath and ordered about $500 worth of gaskets, hoses, rebuilt kits and 0-rings through Yotamasters.

Here's the list of fixes we'll do this week.

  • -Valve Cover
  • -Spark Plug Donuts
  • -Distributor O-Ring
  • -Rebuild the Power Steering Pump
  • -New Hoses including High Pressure on Steering Pump
  • -New Charcoal Canister lines
  • -New Lines on Smog related items near manifold area

And whatever else we can find to do while we're there.

The plugs, cap/rotor and wires aren't that old or else they're be replaced too.

The rear main seal is barely leaking so im not going to yank the tranny for that. I'll just put a diaper on it :D

I was looking at that exact image yesterday, live and in person. Order OEM vacuum line in bulk and replace every vacuum line under the intake...fyi, there are some strange sizes. I replaced mine with 7/64" for the small and 5/32" for the larger, but would have used OEM if I had more forethought.

Also, test your vsv for egr for your peace of mind. I didnt drain the coolant, but there are some coolant lines that you could replace much easier if the upper intake is off. Also, the fuel filter is right there. I skipped it even though I had the filter in hand, but now I'm regretting it.

Get yourself a big crescent wrench to move the EGR valve. That thing was a pain in the butt when trying to remove the upper intake manifold.

And ENJOY

Alright.. so it's looking nice now.. not bad for a quarter million mile rig.

New valve cover gasket, new dizzy o-ring, new plug wires and plug seals,
new charcoal canister lines and smog lines on the manifold, new dizzy cap
seal. Re-routed some hoses that were in bad locations. New PCV valve seal.
Ordered new struts for the hood so it doesn't fall when cold, cleaned the throttle body and replaced a hose clamp or two.

Tomorrow it will go in for a rebuild of the power steering pump and new high pressure line and return lines and we shouldn't see anymore oil!

Im happy with a clean engine, it was starting to drive me nuts.

Yeah it was like pouring EVOO all over the corn :D

On another note, the power steering pump and lines are all finished and the truck is going back to Yotamasters next week for the oil pump seal. The fun never ends! ..... at least it will be all buttoned up and ready to rumble.

Ok, new front main seal and oil pump seal is in and finished. Not drop leaking anywhere now. Installed the new Torx screws for added bonus. Very happy.

Yotamasters took care of us once again and did a great job with a fast turn around.

Also, happy with the new struts.... its nice to have the hood lift on its own power and not worrying about hitting my head on it :D

wow where did u get the struts? I don't remember my hood ever working as good as that. I did recently do the 60 series prop rod that came in handy yesterday when I had my roommate give me a jump start. my Engel is not liking this IE heat and decided to take it out on my battery. :crybaby: the list never ends... haven't even gotten started on my dual battery setup and now I NEED to get new struts. :hillbilly:
