Thoughts on wheels with 5" backspacing and 1" offest

If it's 9" wide, and has 5" of backspacing (with ZERO offset, see below), that means that 5 of the 9 inches are inboard, with 4 inches outboard, correct?

Is 4" from the hub outside the fenders? That should be the answer to your question.

those wheels are gonna push your tire/wheel combo out past the fender a bit... I'm running a 9 inch wheel with 20mm offset and am pretty much flush with the fender...

Thanks @kreiten

That's what I figured - that extra 5mm or so seemed like enough to push them out just a tad too far. 20mm seems to be the sweet spot for most.

you'd be out 20mm more than me, that's basically 3/4's of an inch past the fender...

Which wheels did you end up going with? Looking at these very wheels

The specs are a bit conflicting.

Wheel Width (in):9.000 in.
Backspacing (in):5.000 in.
Offset:0.00mm

At worst, this wheel is 0mm offset.
At best, based on the backspacing spec, this wheel is 12.7mm offset.

Doesn't matter really as either way, the wheel is just not useful for the 200-series. Where ideal offset is really in the 40+mm region. Anything below that, besides pushing the tire out beyond the body lines and "swing" fitment issues, really puts the suspension geometry out of whack in regards to scrub radius, which causes ill handling behavior.

I have Fuel Beast 18" with -1 mm offset and I'm pretty sure they have 5" backspace. Running Toyo OC ATII 285/65/18's. There was some front fender rubbing, and rear mud flap needed lots of modification. It was probably more offset than I had anticipated, but I'll keep running with them.

It could be that the 12.7mm offset to backspacing discrepancy is that I didn't account for the wheel lip that is included the backspacing measurement.

Hence this is truly a 0mm offset.
