What was Wally doing while you were gone?

Found some pics of the mustard 40. A 22,000 original miles truck that unfortunately sat in a field and rotted away. The engine had frozen rings, though it ran good, and smoked like an Iranian at a hooka bar, so it got a 5.3LS swapped in.

Looks good!

After a good shop cleaning, it was finally time to start bringing some body parts onto the floor. The interior was sanded, cleaned, seam sealed and a little bodywork done before the floor was sprayed with liner

Then my favorite, fill and block....and fill and block...

Eventually you get to lay some paint

Wet sanding, compounding and buffing are new to me, but with hours and hours of practice I'm getting good

Cool to see the in-process pics.

What do you use for seam sealer on the body?

So much sexiness in those pics, but I can’t stop staring at the tool clips for some reason... Amazing art man

The cab and bed are resting on the frame

While we tackle the rest of the panels

The hood needed a far amount of rust replacement and some dolly work, but split hoods are getting rare so you work with what you have. Liner hides a lot too...

Seam sealer, lots of seam sealer

Tomorrow, more painting.

For most less esthetically pleasing locations

For a smoother or more factory look

You need to invest in a two part gun, but it's perfect for hard top drip rails, hint hint.

The shop is full of freshly painted panels just begging to be knocked over, time to hang them out of the way. Still some futzing to get the body and bed where they need to be but it's awesome to see it coming together.

Thanks guys, yes we've been busy.
It's amazing how much time all the little things consume!
The last few days has been, prepping little things

The tail light mounts are special to the bed so we really wanted to save them, but of course they are rusty

You could chase the holes forever with a welder and have nothing to show for it, but a backer piece of tin will make it easier

Fill and grind
