Have I mentioned that I decided to do an engine swap too? The LC70 came with a 1FZ-F and I really wanted a coil pack motor but a member of the community here had an early distributor type 1FZ-FE, frozen because of lower end issues, and I decided to get it an swap in my head. Probably none of that would work, but anyways, here is the engine I picked up.

I'm familiar with this engine because my 1993 80 has this style in it. I think the power boost from the carb 1FZ will be worth it. The story was that this was a freshly rebuilt 1FZ for which overheated 30 minutes into its first run so it seized up and then it freed up once it cooled down that the guy didn't want it anymore. So we're going to rebuild it again. But the indications are it's doable. I got it for a price consistent with this history.

The guys took it apart and it looks surprisingly good aside from one cylinder which we will have to see after machining / honing.

I mentioned earlier that I had decided to replace the body because the rollover damage was just too widespread. Once the guys started to pull the truck apart we learned the full extent of the poor condition of the body.

This is becoming a proper 70 Series frame off restoration.

I am used to seeing this in the 40 Series section. Here it is not that common.
