Shout out to @reevesci. He gave my son a handcrafted knife when we stopped by his shop today. Freaking sweet! Jake won't stop talking about how cool it is.

Sorry bro! I didn't even think about this. Oops.

Bwahaha!

@reevesci, since you are making knives now, can we talk? I need one specifically for working on the cruiser. I need a 12mm box wrench on one end and the Toyota logo etched into the blade. Extra storage for zip ties would be good. How long before that can be done?

Actually I'm a little put out. Nobody has asked me to cook for them because of his posts! Like your knife is better than my chicken and potatoes. Whatever.

Back home. Not sure of the exact tally on miles but approximately 4400. As much fun as it was it is good to be home and going to sleep in my own bed. A shower was nice too.

Mollie didn't skip a beat. Slight hiccup with the Throttle Position Sensor (thanks to @MDarius for coming through). I think it would've been ok to make it home but it was nice to not have to worry about it. The knuckles are no longer weeping, they are crying like a little baby (especially the DS). But that will have to wait. It's cold AF here in Iowa! I'll keep checking and adding grease as needed.

I need a smaller fridge/freezer. I think a 50qt ARB is in my future along with the Dometic CDF-11 for the center console. The Dometic will come first as that would be handy.

I need a ladder. Preferably on a new rear bumper with swing out.

The fender flares need to go. One is about to fall off. Another I knocked loose kicking snow and ice off of. Another got knocked loose on a limb that was buried in snow that I hit.

I'm rambling...

Oh, and I got to use my rear facing :flipoff2: lights last night for something other than backing up or camp lights. I was driving between Laramie and Cheyenne, WY, going down a 6-7% grade, mountain fog thick, and some assho!e in a van is riding me in the right hand (of three) lane. Left two lanes are wide open. He was so close I couldn't see his headlights. I had my hazards on. I sped up a bit and tapped my brakes. He crept up again right behind me. So I hit the switch. Dude backed off.

Normally I wouldn't advocate doing something like this but I think he had plenty of opportunity to go around me or slow the fawk down and get off me. He couldn't have been more than 15 ft behind me. Ridiculous.

A ladder would be nice, wouldn't it? I found a pool ladder, maybe it was for a trampoline... Had hooks on top and foam bumpers on the bottom. If it didn't look so redneck I would have kept it. As it was it rode inconspicuously on the roof rack ready to be deployed as needed. It was a little flimsy, but a decent concept.

We also got one of those mobility assistance handles that sits in the door latch (aka bottle opener) so my father-in-law could get in and out of his car more easily. He didn't like it and I've been considering using it as a step. Not sure the latch would stand up to the abuse of my hulking form using it that way though.

Good thing we still have kids that like to climb up!

This is why the rest of us can't have nice things. My wife knows I would do that.

I gave him every opportunity to back the hell off. He was making it unsafe for my son and I. He learned his lesson.

And hey, the lights are only 18w LEDs. It's not as though they are THAT bright...

THAT'S the other reason I want lights back there........But I'm not gonna do 18 watts........

They sell grain bin ladders at Bomgaar's........

It's time for new rotors and pads on the 93. What is the consensus on what to buy? I almost always like to stick with OEM but am open to alternatives. But not interested in breaking the bank. I've never replaced rotors before.

I'll definitely go 100 series pads as that seems to be the way to go.

I don't remember OEM rotors being terribly expensive. I've also used Brembos from Napa that have held up well in my FJ62 but I understand they may now be made in China.

There's also the new effort by Terrain Tamer. I recently used one of their kits and it's good quality, so I assume their brake parts are decent too.

Thanks @Cruiserdrew - yes, the HP brakes from have been well received. Georg @orangefj45 at Valley Hybrids has installed quite a few kits, including his 100 Series. Pads or pad/rotor sets - both provide significant benefits. He would be best technical resource if folks have questions. :)

Just saw another 80 on Craigslist from your area. How many are there around? I've been watching CL for over a year throughout Iowa and CR has 90% of them. You creating the market up there?

Thanks guys. I'll hit up Georg regarding the Terrain Tamer rotors. Or if he wants to post it in here that is fine by me!

That one may be joining the stable... still negotiating...
