I picked up a whole engine (everything from valve cover to oil pan) a few weeks ago for $160. It had a spun rod bearing and the seller was swapping in a v8. I didn't get very many pictures this time. It was running about a week and a half after I picked up the block. Not bad, considering that was the same week as finals.

A timelapse of the cracked block leaking (this was about 45 seconds):

After 15 seconds of cranking with the plugs out, the oil light went out. We cranked it for another 15 seconds after that, put the plugs back in, reconnected the EFI, and fired it up.

I haven't found any leaks or problems yet. I am going to take it in to have the exhaust welded back together tomorrow or Saturday. We are planning to take it and the 80 out to smorr offroad park on Sunday for a shake down run before we leave for the Razorback Ramble in a week.

Damn, dude! Nice recovery on the cracked block. Way to keep on!
