Bruiser thanks man...

my shift pattern fell off and my girlfriend sucked it up with the vac :(

So if I bugger it up tomorrow I might be dropping you a line.

Im gonna try the the vise grips with tape on them...i tryed yanking on the knob and it still dint come off...I was afriad if I tryed any harded that i would bust blood vessles in my head or punch myself in the face.

I honestly think this is the best approach...

Take pics afterwards of course :flipoff2:

My buddie's 14yr old son has been making & selling dud (even though the real ones are tempting) hand grenade shifter knobs for around 20 bucks. Let me know if your interested. Not at all hard however to just buy a surplus dud & convert it into a knob yourself too.

OMG, dude, tell me you are trying avery double entendere in the book?

Your arms are going to get a lot bigger with all that knob jerking...

But if your GF sucks like a Hoover, no need to service your own knob... :grinpimp:

Got a black eye yet???

BTW, my FJ60 (early 85) has a screw on knob..

I got my knob off ;p

and put on a hand throttle that i took from a beach cruiser. ya know the twisty shift kind. It will be sweet not starting the truck with 2 feet and 3 pedals when I am about to slip off a rock lodge or have stalled on a steep incline, It also doubles as the poor mans cruise control :D

Hey guys thanks for the help getting my knob jobbber off ;)

That pic is confusing as all hell

Is that just a cheapo Gripshift twister? I was a bike mechanic for years when I was younger and Gripshift was just coming around. Are you using the shifter for the front or rear derailleur? Just wonder how much cable it was pulling.

Huh huh, I said cable pulling, thats cool.

it took me a while, but i finally got it. it's basically a hand throttle on the shifter.

that's an interesting way to do it, but down here in australia, where i have a diesel 60, there is actually a stock hand throttle where the choke would other wise be on the petrol models. It's just a cable that links straight to the accelorator pedal.

incidently, i don't use it in situations such as you plan to, as in low first, semi-releasing the clutch will have enough torque to hold the truck on a slope, giving plenty of time to move the other foot from the brake tot he throttle

I will get some bettter pics today it was dark out when i took them... Its not really confusing at all.

instead of using a brake handle which you would have to hold down to rev the engine. This way you just twist the grip shift and set it for whatever rpms you want....its super easy to use and install. I get some pics you guys can understand them...
