Parked beside this nice white 100 tonight. Plenty of us around this area.

Purchased this 05' Land Cruiser in mid March with 202K miles on it. Rust free West Coast truck, 3rd owner. I ordered a bunch of parts and did timing belt, tensioner, water pump, cam seals, crank seal, serpentine belt and heater T's. Put on an Ironman Foam Cell Pro lift, 33" KO2's and Icon Wheels. Busy couple weeks.

Promptly loaded up the family end of April and took a 2500 mile round trip vacation from Seattle, WA to Moab, UT! Hit the Bonneville Salt Flats on the way down. Ran a bunch of easy stuff in Moab. Truck performed flawlessly with the exception of a power steering rack leak that seams to have developed on the drivers side and some clunking which is likley bushings that need replaced.

Visited three gulches in the local area for two nights of camping and three days off road. We had a blast. Managed to get a stock taco down and up both Hackett and Longwater Gulches with only minor damage (departure angle had a word with one corner of his bumper!).

This is the biggest obstacle on Longwater Gulch. Both the Taco and the 100 went down fine. The 100 struggled to get back up due to fatness - made it on the third try. The taco took a careful approach but drove right up without a problem.

This was quite a difficult ascent and descent. The 100 drove it fine both ways, but on the way up, the Taco's overhang firmly planted the receiver into a rock and held the passenger rear tire a good foot off the ground. I winched him out and it was not an easy pull! Here he is coming back down which he did without an issue.

Here's a pano shot of the obstacle after I'd gotten the 100 down and as we were starting into getting the taco down:

And here's a pretty view of the steeper section of Metberry gulch on our way down Friday afternoon. You can see the road winding across the hilltop to the left side of the photo.

One interesting observation: the Taco's traction control is quite crap compared to the 100. His taco is just a sport 4x4 so no locker or ATRAC and wow, the difference is large. Where the 100's ATRAC is pretty smooth in operation, the Taco's TC is very aggressive and jerky. It definitely launched him into a tree or rock more than once (rock rails keep is panels straight! Gave me a heart attack though).

100 series looking good tonight. Is it weird that I sit and stare at my cruisers?
