Can I get some opinions about my rooftop tent position? Specifically, if it would be a good idea to slide it further towards the back? I originally placed it like this so it wouldn’t interfere with a hatch mounted spoiler. I’m on the fence about installing a spoiler so if I don’t, should I move the tent further back? Note that I have a lot of tent overhanging the front roof bar but very little at the back. From some angles the overhang looks a little weird and I wonder if I might have less wind noise if the leading edge was more in line with the slope of the windshield. Thanks!

I’ll add that If the tent would look dumb being further back then I would leave it as is. I just can’t figure out if i would like the look better or worse if i moved the tent.

Dope truck. I think it would help with wind noise / aerodynamics if moved back. Could maybe even figure out a fairing situation?

My opinion coming from a Tacoma with a wedge camper. Others will have RTT experience.

Thanks for the compliment!

The fairing comment reminds of another issue. If I ever get around to roof mounted lighting, those would end up directly above the windshield in the current position. That’s a bridge to cross later.

After almost 13 years of ownership and over 160,000 miles my wife’s 100 series is taking its first ride on a rollback. Guy in the tundra missed seeing her and after stopping, proceeded into the intersection here in Virginia. Sprained wrist and bruised knee. Truck did its job of protecting here in a 50 mph collision. This was her second 100 as we sold the first one after she put 150,000 miles on that one.

I found this old picture from March 2020. I had already stashed a new rack under it. Later that day, I would start refreshing the entire suspension. Every bushing, ball joint, control arm, tie rod end, and engine/transmission mount was replaced.

Glad to know she is OK. Trucks can be replaced!
