What an awesome trip, got a decent haul of pine nuts and busted a mirror 🤣

Is that a zip tie in the mirror?

Also got pretty tipsy and thought it would be fun to throw a .300 win mag cartridge in the fire.....

I like your idea of shenanigans and want to participate one day. 😁

What’s that trapezoid shaped piece which appears to be attached to rear of your center console?

The tipsy part sounds like fun
The cartridge part not so much 😳
I may or may not have lit a sagebrush on fire with that particular shenanigan 😅 😂 🤣 😆

On a side note always keep a shovel near your fire and I love camping in sand because it is soooo easy to shovel.

Spent the day glassing for bears. Came across a covey of blue grouse and managed to get one for dinner.

Than my drivers window started acting up. I replaced the window runs and cleaned and lubed the mechanism and motor a few years back. Guess I need to order a new window regulator and a new mirror now. Of course the Dorman regulator went from $60.00 to $120.00 in the last 4 years..... thanks O Biden.

Did some exploring

Found a big old piece of petrified wood but it was to far from the truck to carry back.

I opened all the doors and did a little bit of everything.

Front driver gor a new window regulator and a lube service.

Front passenger got a new mirror and a lube service.

Rear doors got new door checks, lubed up, and the right rear lock got fixed.

What's with right rear locks failing more than others?

Changed the oil today at 154,000 miles.

🥂 🎉 🍾 the rig is finally retired from daily driving duties!!!!

Jumped in the rig with my old man at 5am on Thanksgiving day to go look for a cow elk. Right at first light we got so lucky and saw a herd of elk walking on the road down in a canyon. We were able to drive down to them and shoot one 150 yards off the road. It couldn't have been a better antlerless hunt. I got so busy I never even took a photo of the 80 series in action.

This is what the 80 series was made for.

Haven't posted I here for awhile. Rig has been running great except a dead battery from a bad door switch. Other than that I am getting a suspicious noise from the ac belt idler pulley.

It's been about 40,000 miles since I got the rig and did belts. I am going to do belts again soon and replace all the idler pulleys/bearings on the rig.

Today's varmint adventures

I really hate mud, it makes me get out and lock hubs.

And the days highlight was passing the Oscar Meyer Weiner mobile.

Just clicked on this, and somehow, this appears familiar. Perhaps I'm completely off, but many, many years ago, we'd started on Elephant Hill, came out of Beef Basin, then headed south on Gooseberry road towards the Notch. It was late September, and the oaks were just as red.

Pretty darn close, that photo is just east of the notch. Looking east at west mtn peak on the abajos.

I have been all over utah and some of the thickest most mature oak woods I have seen are on the abajo's and the la sal's. I am loving this part of the state.

Well my apartment lost power and I had a couple days off. Good excuse to go camping and exploring.

After a knee surgery last June it feels good to be hiking again. Did 7 miles and saw some cool stuff.

Than I found an awesome little camp spot tucked away off the beaten path. Had it all to myself.
