flex fans are not great for slow speed. The flatten out and do not pull much air at higher rpms. When you are" in it" climbing an obstacle, your temps will raise due to lack of air flow. A fan clutch or just a stock "circle track" fan works great. It may take a little hp away but will pull air even more when at higher rpms. Flex fans are meant for cars that go higher speeds and they do not need a fan to pull air through the radiator, the speed with force it through. ON the trail, you will most likely never see speeds fast enough to push enough air to keep it cool.
Honestly i had no problems and my temp stays down when i am driving Its when i am waiting and waiting and waiting it wants to start going up . If i give it some Rpm it will come down . I have ZERO room for a clutch fan . In a perfect world my engine would be 3 inches back Unfortunately with the TH400 trans i just run out of room . I am kicking around the idea of going to a sm420/465 ? maybe even a TH350 we will see For now i am just happy that i can take it wheeling and enjoy it .

Try something like this. It should fit in place of the flex fan and pull plenty at idle. I pulled the flex fan and installed one of these years ago and never had a problem. They are cheap enough.

I will order one and see how it works . Thank you .

This weeks project . Install new Alt. And get new power steering lines made for the hydro assist

So i took my Alternator back to see if they would warranty it since it had less than 300 miles on it . Nope only a 90 day warranty . So i almost bought a new one but then remembered that there is a Electric motor and Alternator repair shop close by . I ran over there at 4 pm on Friday and he checked the Alt and confirmed yep it was cooked . Said he could fix it and i could pick it up Monday :). and a Fraction of the cost for a new one . I asked what he thought why it would do this and he Thinks since i do not drive it much and the fact i let my fridge run that my batt was always down and always charging . So i am thinking about going to a dual battery set up . This would be good for using my trail welder as well .

little bit of solar has worked out good for us vs another battery.
i think im good for a couple of days just on battery if the fridge is already cooled.

That would be a good option as well . I will look into that first

Next thing you know you have 2 batteries, 2 solar panels and a roof rack and wear a Patagonia trucker hat to go get coffee. Seriously though, I've been looking at a flat 100w panel to put in place of all the garbage that came off of my Cruiser. Once the fridge is cold, it doesn't take much to keep it that way

i use folding panels. that way they aren't permanent mount and I don't have to haul them if they aren't needed specifically.

2 batts, and 100W minimum solar and your good to go. It is up to you if you want an expensive batt controller to manage solar charging, discharge protection etc... I just hooked them together as my fridge has a low volt cut off.

I just use a cheap Renogy 30amp solar controller mounted to the side of my center console. That said, packaging in an 80 is a little more forgiving

I use a sunforce 8 amp mounted on dash, runs up to 125w of solar which has been enough with the dual batts to get 5 days stand alone without running vehicle.

Truck looks good on the trail, nice to finally see some actual photos of it in action @AgentOrange

I asked earlier in the thread what your WMS width was, now I realize I'm more interested in Outside tire to Outside tire widths. I have a 72" WMS rear tundra axle that I am considering putting under the crawler in place of the mini-truck rear axle that is there (custom width front would need to be built to match width wise). I would probably end up just a bit wider than you as I plan to run positive offset wheels but am still a bit nervous of ending up to wide.
86inches outside of tire to outside of tire

So this summer I dropped down on a rock and broke my rear tail light 😐. Actually it was the tail light protector that actually did it 🤦🏻‍♂️. Well AVR customs has been building a really nice 40. In a way it’s very similar to mine . Anyways he just built a new rear bumper for his and I really like it so I just ordered a set of his plans ( I have the 2nd) he has the first . I will be relocating my tail lights back up into the body . I actually have holes there already that are just covered by the Budbuilt armor so it’s ok . Normally I would just build it but this will fast track it . I will have it water jetted and then glue it up .

So my 40 had a clunk when I would put it in reverse. It’s been this way for over a year. And I have never been able to find it . Today I figured it was time to change out the motor mounts to the ones that I originally bought . ( I honestly do not remember why I didn’t put them in to begin with 🤔. Anyways I found my clunk . They looked fine and it’s been fine . Glad I am fixing this kinda stuff in my garage

Well, the new chairman puts motor mount in upside down ? Please don't show up in a button up/collared shirt.
IMO that bumper with lights in the body looks way to Jeepish.
